    Thanks for the compliments guys :).

    The pink/purple-ish stuff is my usual explosion effect (I use that a lot). But this time I added some white bars, some straight, some curvy and played with the opacity.

    I first tried to put the text in hte upper left corner btw, so the girl would be looking at my nick, but it didn't look right.

    I use a render that sort of looks like an explosion (like in this pack: http://i-cansei.deviantart.com/art/C4d-effect-Render-Pack-No-1-74942876 )
    Put that in a layer above the main image and put the layer to linear/color dodge (which of the 2 looks best).

    Then erase the stuff that covers your focal point and play with the opacity untill it looks good.
