Good question.... well, I workout hard for my shape. But also for my mind and spirit. I am much more grounded, positive and happy when I am regularly physical. If I don't sweat and release, I can really feel a difference in my overall well being. So I do it for the energy and quality of life. Plus, I also just authentically enjoy and find "euphoria" in exercise. It's a high for me!

As per running specifically.... It was always a challenge for me. I couldn't get my breath right and so never considered myself a runner. It bothered me that being as physical as I am, I couldn't just go running with friends. I like to conquer challenges and fears... there is a great rush of empowerment when I do(similar to why I rock climb and I'm afraid of heights). Makes me mentally disciplined/strong. So that is why I started. So I could finally run whenever I wanted...

... but then once I started.... it became so so freeing. It's amazing to go on a wooded trail or sandy beach and run. Your heart rushes, you get in a good pace, everything expands and feels alive... and afterwords I feel like an amazon warrior goddess that can accomplish any challenge in my life. So now I do because I just love it. As well, it's taking my fitness to a whole new level and my future goal of doing a triathlon seems attainable.
