21 years later and finally a video of this
I remember being blown away at seeing her nipples in this shirt when the pics first came out so long ago

 

My favorite celebrity "wardrobe malfunction" of all time. There's even a getty images clip somewhere of a cameraman at the event, doing a long lens zoom-in and making pervy comments.

There has always been a debate on whether or not she was aware. It's hard to imagine her "handlers" being this naive about fashion.

 

The excuse was "We had no idea the camera flashes made it transparent!" if I recall.

This video seems to disprove that notion.

 

Think it was all part of a conscious plan (with plausible deniability re camera flashes making outfits transparent, even though it was well known that would happen given the right type of outfit) to view her as more adult for roles in the future and not just typecasting her for roles like her character from The Princess Diaries, which was what she was best known for at that time.

Don't forget that we got to see her fully topless in the straight to DVD 2005 film Havoc (her first real 'adult' part) which reports say was actually filmed primarily in the fall of 2003 (i.e. around the same time as this premier she was attending......conincidence ???). It seems to further cement a plan to get her away from being seen as just a Disney girl, a common move we see still to this day for a lot of former Disney girls trying to move on and be considered for more adult roles.

 

Nah. I don't know her personally, but we had some mutual friends back then, and that's not the way she thinks or acts. It was an honest mistake.

 

Maybe, but just because someone is a friend, it doesn't mean that they are privy to what their other friends could do or might be capable of doing in any set of circumstance (friends can always surprise you in doing something that you would have never thought them capable of doing in a million years).....and afterall she is a very good actress. Like I said, using that line of defence (which many have done before and continue to do since) gives them enough plausible deniability so that we simply can't know for 100% certain whether it was a calculated move or a honest mistake.
