Just so im clear im not a trans person or a member of that group but it felt somewhat accurate when i read it. So atleast the person behind the strip has probably thought about the subject alot.

Eagerly anticipate the full review from "At the movies with Sophie"

I have always had a thing for Rachel Brosnahan(looks and talent), and this is the show where I was introduced to her. I can't quite figure out what really drew me in more than usual though:thinks::shifty: (gotta appreciate Rachels attention to detail in this scene)

    Watched "The Happiest Season"
Meeting your girlfriend's family for the first time can be tough.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Planning to propose at her family's annual Christmas dinner - until you realize that they don't even know she's gay - is even harder.
When Abby (Kristen Stewart) learns that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8522006/

First of all i like Mackenzie Davis (loved her in the "Terminator" film), i like "The Happiest Season's" Cowriter and director Clea DuVall and really like Kristen Stewart.

I was really looking forward to seeing it, but after watching the first 40 minutes my heart sank.

It was the most contrived, stereotypical "Festive/home for the holidays" rehash.

My first problem was while Kristen and Mackenzie were individually very good actors, i didn't believe in them as a couple for a minute.
It wasn't the height difference (been there/seen that), it just came across as acting as opposed to natural, there was no spark.

Mackenzie brought her partner Kristen to her parents home for Christmas.

Bring on the dysfunctional family (i know a lot about that sort of family) but it wasn't that they were a dysfunctional WASP/Old school GOP family.

They were not very nice people (the Corleone family were kinder, warmer and more welcoming) its the 21st Century and yet they treated Kristen like she was
something out of a Fox News documentary on "The Threat to America's family values" and this is before anything was revealed.

Yes harsh, and those attitudes exist and been there with gf's who don't want to reveal their sexuality to their families.
But it doesn't make for feel good festive viewing.

So first 40 minutes stereotypical festive dross.

Then it begins to pick up and is mildly amusing and KS/MD in their separate scenes are really good, but the problem was there was no spark/chemistry between them.

The same can't be said for Aubrey Plaza and Kristen, in their scenes together it really works, as in they wanted to eat each other alive.

Bring on Kristen's Gay Stereotypical friend John (Dan Levy) who wasn't that far removed
from Rupert Everett's Gay character in "My Best Friend's Wedding" and that was in 1997.

From 40 minutes to the climax, i began to be amused at the seen it all before festive/happy holidays genre but at the same time more and mote uncomfortable as there were moments when the film had attitudes to sexuality
that some may of had to creed or colour in previous decades, swap Gay daughter/daughter has a same sex partner to...

Again it doesn't make for feel good festive viewing, its a bit too real.

Positives Mary Holland (who Co wrote "The Happiest Season" ) as Harper's Sister Jane, who after Kristen who be the only person i'd like to be around.
    https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4364610/?ref_=tt_cl_t6

I won't go into the redemption or ending, but see it for yourself.
This was really magic wand land with Insta entries over the following year on how they learnt and saw the light.
Yes its rom com and not a doc, but after some really full on dysfunctional scenes/dialog, it was for me a little too fairy tale ending.

Clea DuVall has a lot of thoughts on that controversial “happy” ending.
    https://www.glamour.com/story/happiest-season-clea-duvall-responds-harper-backlash

Saw this on imdb, i haven't seen it anywhere else or Kristen refer to it nor did she mention
it on Jimmy Kimmel talking about the film.
In an interview on the December 3, 2020 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2015),
Aubrey Plaza said that after the end of production at the end of February, she asked the man driving her to the airport if she should be worried about COVID-19.
He replied that "that s**t's been in Pittsburgh for a long time." She broke the news that Kristen Stewart and several others on the set came down with it, but she didn't.

I had a big fangasm when they announced all the Star Wars stuff.

Also Aubrey and Kristen need to make a romance movie as a couple.

If you wanna see Aubrey being awesome I highly recommend the TV Show Legion. It's available on Hulu. And it's my favorite Marvel movie/show.

Problem is its not that bad (apart from Maisie's "Scots" accent) but it's so pass its sell by date, like "Dark Angel" we've seem it several times before, if it were released a decade ago, it would be right on the button.

But that particular parade has passed by.

Even with Maisie & Anya and lesbians 6/10

Your saying was really on point in this movie, Keira was so fine in this and didn't actually do any nudity and had a fully clothed sex scene which was hotter than a lot of naked ones.

Sorry it didn't live up to expectations, I am seeing a lot of people online saying the same thing, it's not that they didn't like Kristen and Mackenzie it's that they thought Kristen and Aubrey would have been fire as the couple(I agree, Aubrey has a unique personality and appeal much like Kristen, plus they are both hot:yumyum: ). Aubrey may not have been acting, like I have said before she is very 'unique'(not in a bad way, just obviously not one of those perfectly polished Hollywood type images, she doesn't have a filter lol. One thing I did like was that it emphasized that not every LGBT coupling has the same family background, there are some where one has a very accepting home and the other has the polar opposite unfortunately.

As for the COVID, I agree. With news coming out now that donated blood from a year ago here in the U.S. had COVID antibodies already, it is pretty much confirmed we had it months before the government said so, which is to expected with both their sheer incompetence and disdain for the people and also Chinas refusal to share any info about what was happening there or even admit there was any viral outbreak. IDK if I told you this before, but last December my workplace got ravaged by 'The flu'. All the vendors that come in through the back entrance, people who worked back there and people who happened to go to that area a lot(like me for instance) all got sick at the same time; coughing, congestion, shortness of breath, runny nose, the works. Months later, when we all knew about COVID, one of them said to me she thinks we already had it and I tend to think we did, especially now that we know some of the long term symptoms that last months afterward. I for example do not have as strong of lungs as I once did, occasional shortness of breath and heart palpitations(among the most common long term effects of COVID). I don't curse it much though, cause if thats the worst we got from it then we were lucky as we near 300,000 dead.

Hell no:no way!: I wasn't impressed with the Disney/Marvel announcements TBH, but a part of it could be maybe intentionally holding back in their teasers and trailers so as not to give too much away(as a lot of trailers have done in recent years, where you feel you already watched the entire thing).

Saw this a couple of weeks ago. Like you, the wife and I were entertained but also felt a bit jaded. The "New" part of the title was a bit of false advertising. Same story told by another storyteller.

In the latest episode of my Tesco pilgrimages today, I noticed on the DVD/Blu-ray shelves a copy of "Digitally Remastered Frank Herbert's DUNE (Emmy Award Winning)" that I acquired recently from Amazon, believing it to be a remastered version of the reviled 1984 film that I wanted to watch again to compare with the 2021 version that looks far more promising?
However on acquiring it and researching it I discovered that it's actually the remastered 2020 American TV series of DUNE that received some acclaim! And having watched all 274 minutes of it I think it's far superior to the original film!
So if you're frustrated at having to wait until the back end of next year for the latest version, don't hesitate to dip into this - it's not without its flaws, but I don't believe you'd be disappointed?
