No offence to my brittish friends and phunners but hasnt the brits always been seen as a lapdog to america.

 

I say as an American that they certainly have been since the days of Blair kissing up to W here. I doubt the people there want to be seen as such, thus why Sophie and others I see are already unimpressed with Boris who seems eager to do much the same(especially if you look at certain close advisers of his).

The Special Relationship exists depending on who's in the White House and Number 10, Blair & Clinton got on very well, but if you go back Britain & the US as a meeting of equals ended as WII progressed, FDR lead and Churchill in public agreed. By the Mid 1950's British PM Eden and the Suez Crisis (they sent troops into Egypt) Eisenhower didn't back them, Britain had to withdraw and Eden was finished. MacMillian got on very well with JFK, Wilson told LBJ where to go when he requested British troops be sent to Vietnam. From there until Thatcher came along Britain didn't wasn't relevant in any US Administration, Thatcher & Reagan was like a Mills & Boon slush novel, however when the US invaded Grenada and the White House didn't inform Number 10 until after it happened. Reagan recalled that Thatcher called him and gave him a dressing down he'd never forget.

Boris might not be around very long to develop any relationship with Trump, but unlike any previous US President he might love you on Monday, but if on Tuesday you dare to have an opinion that he doesn't agree with....

It was a mixture of splits in their own parties, losing Votes of Confidence and having to call General Election.

Its more like what he hasn't said, that ability will end today.

Boris has got a lot of his schedule from this afternoon (when he becomes PM) Brexit, possible conflict with Iran and his own Party MP's choosing to resign rather than serve under him, all the back-seat drivers who had no responsibility until now, are in the driving seat.

I saw the events in Iran, that is another spark around a powderkeg. Considering how some over here are desperate for a war with Iran, could Boris use this as an impetus to align publicly with and bow to Trump and the U.S. for a war? That would make people not notice the failure to handle Brexit and forget about the many controversies over here too, a Wag The Dog scenario. That's a fear of mine, that the people would just be like "we're at war now, so kneel before our leaders" despite the fact that they are corrupt inept buffoons.
