Firefly was screwed from the start by the network, they didn't even air the pilot first. Such a wasted opportunity, but Fox has a history of screwing great shows over(especially in that time period, Wonderfalls comes to mind for me as well). They also cancelled Family Guy early on and only brought it back after it sold a ton on DVD and was a ratings smash in reruns on Cartoon Network.

Talking about what actors do next (or during); I saw Millie Bobby Brown on Jimmy Fallon talking about her new movie "Godzilla: King Of The Monsters".
It features her character (looking very like her ST character Eleven) with some very moody clouds with creatures in them (just like in "Stranger Things").

I question sometimes the roles actor's take? in Millie's case yes she's box-office with the new "Stranger Things" coming up, she'll get bums on seats, she's a box office draw.
But as a actor, taking a role that carbon copies "Eleven"? I guess its a case of taking the huge pay cheque which allows you to take on more worthy roles in smaller budget films?

I see that Maisie Williams has gone out of her way to accept roles that are the opposite to Ayra, which perhaps for her long term career might be a good move and shows her range.
Iwan Rheon aka Ramsay Bolton went from GOT into a very similar RB character in that terrible Marvel's "Inhumans", where is he now?

Admittedly he was brilliant in "Misfits".

"Godzilla: King Of The Monsters" out on May 31st.

Millie appears in the sequel "Godzilla vs. Kong" in 2020.

Meanwhile

"The Last Watch" the two-hour #GameofThrones documentary, premieres this Sunday at 9pm on HBO (not sure if its on Sky in the UK or elsewhere).

You're right in this context, "to queue" is to form/stand in line and wait.

Vive La Différence

We do it in Australia & in Ireland, but I was in Brussels (Belgium) and there was a sort of queue, but as soon as the bus arrived it was more of a free for all.
I remember when I was little and we were in Naples (Italy) we were waiting for a bus, when the bus arrived it got really verbal.

It makes for "Interesting" sights in Airports where queue and non queue cultures meet while waiting in a Taxi Rank or Airport Bus queue.

 

I remember in Australia seeing some really weird weather sights, sadly in recent years these are becoming more and more extreme.

 

That indeed in the past was the case, less so now, and in the case of most actors doesn't exist anymore.

You might have a "5 picture deal", but as such that doesn't stop you from accepting other roles.
But if Maisie Williams while she was in GOT wanted to join the Cast of "Vikings" or "The Last Kingdom"
she'd be under contract to GOT, so that was never going to happen.

But it didn't stop her from appearing in a recurring role in "Doctor Who".

Lots of names in the past were tied to a studio or a picture deal, huge Stars of the 1940's to early 1960's
were forced into some really terrible films because they were under contract and some missed out on
big roles from other Studios, some actors were out on loan to other studios.

To my knowledge the Studio system finally broke down in the 1960s.

It sometimes happened in Television where actors asked to be released from a contract

Pierce Brosnan was starring on Television in "Remington Steele", the Bond Producers wanted him for the lead role, the RS Producers refused to release him
from his contract, the 007 role went to Timothy Dalton in 1986, Pierce Brosnan had to wait until 1995 and "GoldenEye" to play Bond.

Maisie Williams huge in GOT, other new roles coming up but she's still a "Jobbing actor".

I remember hearing Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones from 2011-2015) in a interview saying until GOT came along
he had never had a consecutive role, he'd end a role on Friday and either not be working for another 6 months to a year or not knowing
his next role would come along.

I can't say who, but a (leading seen often on Television) "Older" UK actor, was giving a pitch from a Producer to their Agent.
The Agent answered "All we want to know is how much are you offering?".

Millie Bobby Brown has two smaller budget films coming up in 2020.
