I'd heard last year sometime that the idea was that there was only 13 episodes worth of content left to 'tell the story.' That's a complete falsehood. There's so much they could've filled in this season and stuck with the 10 episodes. And, they could've been real low-cost shit, like they could have a whole episode of "Pissy men walking around westeros and talking," and just feature The Hound, Bronn, Tyrion, Tormund, Davos, and that little Lady Lyanna Mormont - she could talk shit with the best of them.

They could probably make a whole spinoff series with that them and people would watch.

Anways, the flip-side argument to this is that if each episode next season is 80-90 minutes (I've heard that's the expectation), then what we're effectively getting in 6 short weeks is the release of 3 major motion pictures in a concluding epic series. (like if 3 Avengers movies came out all in the same month).

Yeah, but you can say the same about a bunch of characters, you have to think in the difference between the main characters and the supportings, because this wasn't Littlefinger's plot, it was Sansa's plot. During all these seasons they have shown Sansa's development: from her journey to King's Landing as a naive girl to her ascension as the Lady of Winterfell. She was a little girl with dreams, then she lost her wolf, her innocence, her father and sister, her freedom, mother, brothers, her House and life... she was fooled, married, "rescued", fooled again, sold, raped, destroyed... and she survived.

The whole thing was between Sansa and Arya, both survivors but completly opposite. Bran had nothing to do (that would have been too easy). They were fixing their relationship. Arya was testing Sansa, seeing if Sansa was loyal to Jon (to the family) or if she was just pretending. And Sansa was trying to understand Arya. And finally they worked together: Sansa was the mind and Arya the hand.

Now, Sansa was the one who had to defeat Littlefinger: it was the old story between the master and the apprentice. Sansa met practically all the masters of the game: Littlefinger, Varys, Tywin, Tyrion, Oleanna, Roose and Cersei. She grew with them, learned from them, tried to play but failed... why? because she was alone. It was until she regain her freedom and join Jon when she start to take the control. And yet, she was depending on Littlefinger. It was until Jon leave the North on her hands when she realised her position. Yesterday, she used what she has learned but not for power or revenge or for her own benefit, she used it for the justice of her House.

The episode's name was The Wolf and the Dragon, but IMO that wasn't because Jon and Dany, it was about the the relationships.
Arya and Sansa are the Wolf.
    Jon and Dany the Dragon.
There wasn't a Lion in the tittle because Cersei and Jaime got separated, even when there was a baby on the way.

Actually, the whole season was about that o_O When the snow fall and the white winds blow, the lone (wolf) dies but pack survies.

Littlefinger is not incapable of making mistake. He tends to overplay his hand when he feels secure in his position. Remember back in S2 when he tried to bully Cersei because he felt his knowledge of her incestuous relationship with Jaime made him strong and claiming how "knowledge is power"? Cersei's reaction was to remind him that "power is power" and ordering her guards to slit his throat... and then just as they were about to do it, stopping them by saying she changed her mind. He also believed that North would never unite behind a "motherless bastard" like Jon Snow and that Sansa, as only living trueborn child of Ned Stark will be made Queen in the North.

Just as he made a mistake in those situations, he made a mistake here. He believed Sansa is completely open to his guidance and manipulations and never even consider possibility of Sansa not trusting him and his council. And even tho Sansa and Arya caught him off-guard by their little plot he'd probably be able to talk his way out it (since neither Sansa nor Arya had any proof... other then for him killing Lysa which he already admitted to!), if not for his reaction to Bran announcing he put knife under Ned's throat and told him "I did told you not to trust me." Littlefingers reaction to that was proof for all present that accusation against him is true which is what sealed his fate... and that was another one of his mistakes. He was told about Bran and his abilities and he either choose to ignore them or worse, didn't believe they were true so he allowed Bran to blindside him.

I'm sorry but Cersei is not a master of the game... not even close. As Tywin put it, she's not as smart as she think she is. All of her "successes" came as a direct result of her opponents acting like complete and utter idiots (Ned Stark, Little Sparrow) and even worse, most of the mess she find herself in is direct result of her poorly thought out actions. It was her idea to have Ned publicly sentenced by Joffrey and it was her idea to name Little Sparrow as High Septon. We all know how good that turned out for her and her family. Now it is her idea to not send troops North to fight Army of the Dead and once again, she fails to see the whole picture, something a true master like her father would not do...

By masters I was refering to the players with the power to take decisions and move pieces. It's a game, it's impossible for everyone to have the same experience or wisdom, that takes time. At the beggining everything was controlled by Tywin, with Varys and Littlefinger in the shadows. Cersei was a minor player. Olenna came into the game and Littlefinger became a player. Joffrey died and, consequenselly, Tywin died.

You put Tywin as a true master and yet his hate and underestimation for his own son became his perdition... He build his House but it wasn't a House for his children.

That was what I was talking about, the whole thing is to learn from your mistakes, to forgive and join forces with your own kind, fix the House. Sansa learned that, Cersei did not...

She took Tywin's place, obviously she's not even close because (she's fucking crazy and the game is about to end o_O) she needed that experience and a good asvisor as Qyburn, she "recovered" the money and the power but, again, she thought in herself and took a bad decision.

Yeah, she have power to take decision and move pieces but pretty much every move she made turn out to be a disaster unless she's going against someone like Ned Stark who doesn't even know how to play the game (she was right, Ned was never trained to lead, he was trained to follow and he only became head of House Stark because his older brother was executed). The fact that she survived this long is a small miracle, but it's also mostly due to the fact her opponents made idiotic decisions.

I mean, she "outsmarts" Ned Stark but she only manage to do that because he came to warn her! But then she decide to have Ned publicly sentenced by Joffrey who is out of control so instead of sending Ned to the Wall and securing their claim (Rob would be honor bound to come and help his future brother-in-love against Stannis and Renly), Joffrey sentence Ned to death and have him executed on the spot. That's Game Over... they lost and they're all dead. Tywin can't sent their army to King's Landing (and the army can't get to King's Landing in time to make the difference anyway) to protect it so it's wide open to attack by Stannis. But what does Stannis do? He goes south and deal with Renly giving Tyrion a full month to prepare his defense and Tywin to bring army to King's Landing to defend it... HBO didn't made a big point out of it but in the book one of the few times (possibly the only time!) she and Tyrion are civil to each other and celebrating together is when news of Stannis sailing for Storm's End reach them.

Tywin had one flaw and that was his hate for Tyrion. But every player have a major flaw... Littlefinger's is overconfidence, Olenna's was lack of imagination, Daenery's is belief she have some sort of "manifest destiny", Varys' is that he's foreigner, Tyrion's is his tendency to over-complicate things and make "clever plans".

You're right, he built his House but in his own mind, he have no one to leave it to. Tyrion is out of the question since he doesn't even consider him his son (and maybe he isn't), Cersei is also out of the question since he think she's an idiot who will bring their House to ruin (he's not wrong) and Jaime as member of Kingsguard is not allowed to take over a House. Which mean his Heir is his younger brother Kevan and his son Lancel...

I disagree. She has made mistakes in the past, but she's not wrong about this. The remnants of her army aren't going to make a difference, and Dany only wants a truce so Cersei doesn't take back half the realm while she's in the north fighting the White Walkers. So, while they're off fighting, she'll wait on the Golden Company to arrive and help her take back Westeros, then stand up to whatever's left after the battle in the north.

As for her being a player of the game, I mean, she wound up as Queen regnant. That's a pretty amazing feat, considering her society hasn't recognized the title before.

It's not about making a difference... it's about aftermath. If dead won, there is nothing anyone in Westeros can do about it because that army just got increased by 100.000 Dothraki, 8.000 Unsullied and unknown number of Northerners (Jon have fewer than 10.000 combatants, but there is at least that many if not more non-combatants). And the Army will only grow by the time it reaches her... so if Dany and others loose, she looses as well. So she has to hope for Dany and others to win and loose enough of their combatants so they don't present a problem... but she also have to hope for one other thing which is that Jon or Dany don't figure out a way to gain control of that Army of Dead!

And that last thing is why her army should go North... to ensure that if living win, dead are destroyed and not seized by one of her enemies (or ideally, if the control of the army can be seized, it's seized by her!).

Why would anyone think Jon or Dany can control the dead? That option isn't even on the table. No reason for her to believe that's a problem.

Her whole thing is, "If they can't beat them with dragons, our troops aren't going to make a difference, so fuck it. I'm gonna sit here and let them fight, and i'll take on her diminished troops if she wins."

Why wouldn't anyone think that? Why is that not on the table? Do we know for a fact it wouldn't work? No, because so far nobody tried it. What we do know for a fact is that Bran could control Summer and Hodor even before his training and "power upgrade" from Three-eyed Raven so it's not a stretch of imagination to consider he could also control dead.

The only reason Cersei is not considering it is because she didn't bother to ask any question about the dead and their Army. Which is a huge mistake on her part and why she's bad at the game. She doesn't consider every option, every possibility only a narrow image. If she did bothered to ask, she most certainly would consider it because it's pretty basic thinking really... someone raised and Army of the Dead. That someone have a way to control them. And if he can control them, why wouldn't I (or my enemies) be able to learn how to do it?

Why would Cersei -- who has no clue Bran's even alive, let alone know that he's a thing called the "Three-eyed Raven" have any reason to believe that controlling the dead is something anyone other than the mystical demonic bad guys can do? It's absurd to expect her to think it's possible. It's only slightly less absurd to think that Dany would turn around and use the dead on King's Landing...but not much.

This "narrow image" is the only image presented in the series. Neither Jon nor Dany says, "Well, can we do the same thing?" Nobody has ever brought it up. Shit, it's never even considered in the books. Why aren't you criticizing them?

Cersei gets it. She realizes that Dany's pleas for peace are a ruse to get her to stop fighting while she's in the north. She understands that the White Walkers are real -- she even says it in this episode -- so she's not overlooking anything. She's absolutely right.

Cersei is a difficult character to dissect. On the one hand she is a terrible person, a terrible leader, paranoid, self-destructive and as vicious as she is incompetent. On the other hand she has been greatly successful so far. Everything she's done has solidified her power and made her the unquestioned opposition in Westeros.
Of course all Cerseis accomplishments required a strong dose of plot armor. Cersei is responsible for bombing the Westerosi Vatican while the Westerosi Pope(The High Sparrow), the Westerosi Princess Diana( Margeary Tyrell )and the family members and leaders of every important House which supports her, including her own uncle, were in attendance.
Despite such a huge terror attack in the capital, one Cersei is believed to be responsible for, there are no riots. There are no up risings or any civil unrest. In fact the people happily cheered and celebrated Euron Greyjoy despite there being a food shortage. Which also begs the question where is Cersei's army getting provisions? Does Cersei have an army that doesn't rely on logistics and soldiers which can respawn after death because her army doesn't seem to be affected at all by the various battles they faced.
Cersei is superficially clever and strong. By the initial in world rules established in s1 of GOT Cersei should have self destructed by now. Instead she is the primary villain because that's where the producers wanted her.

heres a discussion of The Sansa Bolton plotline: 2 years later, the aftermath
a well written piece I recommend any GOT fan read

    https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/6wrad3/spoilers_extended_sansas_bolton_plotline_two/

Basically it fully engages the plotline of Sansa Bolton. After 2 years, what purpose did it serve? How did it enhance or change Sansa's character?
How did it impact the show?
Its well written and well thought out.

My early prediction: Tyrion flies the smaller of Dany's dragons in a dragon dogfight to kill the dragon of the dead, and dies a hero.

I'm willing to take dimes to donuts as action.

Don't you guys remember Bran & Dany's visions? a dragon over King's Landing, snow falling in the Throne Room?

The army of death will march to Winterfell, Jon and Dany are in the boat, fucking like idiots o_O

The Night King flies to King's Landing to kill everyone (Golden Company and Euron's men included) that way, he will have 2 armies

Then (this sounds like a fucking fanfic) the Night King turns Cersei into his Night Queen :D I'd like that.

and then (yeah, there's more) she gives birth before lost the battle, winter is over but the baby survives so The Winter survives

She doesn't know any of that because she didn't bothered to ask... didn't care to ask. She decided what she'll do long before everyone came to King's Landing and she went ahead doing what she planned like nothing happened. And no, it's not absurd to have someone as paranoid as Cersei consider possibility of her enemies trying to use that huge army against her. It's absurd not to have her consider it.

As for Dany using the dead against Lannister army and Golden Company... that's not nearly as absurd as you think. Remember, one of her reasons for getting army of Unsullied is because they don't pillage and rape during campaigns like other armies. Her reason for not using dragons against King's Landing is because it would hurt too many innocent people. Dead don't pillage, rape, need food or rest and will kill only those they are ordered to kill, so she could use them to take over without causing any damage to innocent people - those who normally suffer the most in all the conflicts between "great" Houses... few episodes back we saw Jaime order his troops to basically steal food from people of the Reach (not caring if they'll starve) and even Robb needed to steal provisions on his campaign in order to feed his army.

Because while it's not brought up, it is hinted at. We see Bran's power growing (he's controling whole flock of ravens now). We're told that Bran's destiny is to defeat Night King. Since he's in the wheelchair and can't move his combat with Night King can't be physical. So it had to be supernatural and quite possibly about who get to control army of the dead. And it's only a matter of time before someone (most likely Tyrion) raise the question... the reason neither Jon nor Dany raised so far is because Jon have even narrower view and is focused on destroying the dead. Dany didn't raise it because we never really saw her without Jon being close since she found out just how big of a threat Night King and his army are and she certainly won't discuss possibility of taking over army of the dead for her own use with Jon.

The Lannister 's Army had several battles, but the Royal Army (the Golden Cloaks) fought only against Stannis. There are not riots because of them. Anyway the people are sheeps, they were under a Religious regimen but now the whores are back, so they are happy ;)
We don't see it but they got their provisions from the other kingdoms, especially from Storm's End, Lannisport, The Reach and The Riverlands (when the good Walder was alive).

Despite her flaws and mistakes, the producers want her to be alive and be the ultimate villain, yeah, but why? o_O Because it's her fate!
She wanted to be a princess and become the Queen. Visited a witch. Tywin wanted her to get marry with Rhaegar but Aerys (another nutcase) rejected her. Tywin betrayed Aerys, and she ended with Robert. Jon Arryn died because of her incestouos secret, Bran almost died but he got his powers... She blames Tyrion for everything but she's the one who, indirectly, has killed her family. The damn woman burned all her enemies in a "sacred" place, drestroying a religion. She's the reason of everything :D R'hllor loves her!

And now, she's pregnant... remember Craster's babies? The White Walkers loved those incestouos babies
