I resent that implication, but can respect your opinion.

If I decide to overthrow the humans, you will be the first to know. I enjoy the sight of humans on their knees ...

I would assume all of the guns are not your traditional gun powder firearms. Maybe some sort of flechette gun with sensors to not harm organics? I'll bet the gun Deloris dug up is a standard firearm that some human will receive a bullet from.

Harris's character said he's been going there for 30 years, when a tech suggested slowing down his slaughter the supervisor said he gets to do what he wants. Hopkins talked about finding layers and secretes found to encourage guests to come back. They want him to find the maze, but it may have unintentional consequences...

People like Harris probably have been a big monetary investor to Westworld over the 30 years he has gone there. It looks like he doesn't leave and just stays there though. His membership must more than pay for the carnage he does.

I love how this Westworld is more adult than the movie, and the hookers say fuck and stuff. Thandie Newton was so hot naked last episode. It is so much better a story line than the original, in that it goes into the psyche of the robots/AI's.

Anyone else watch this who also played Red Dead Redemption?

This show makes me think of all the "sandbox" video games, like Fallout, GTA, etc., and I wonder how far off in reality this sort of thing really is.

One thing we know, is that the Porn industry drives as much of the technological innovation as NASA (maybe :)), and when the time is right, you can be pretty sure that you'll be able to order a legal prosthetic prostitute ("Prosthestute"?) to your doorstep with a simple push of a button on your iPhone 69.

What I dont get is if the guns used in the show are real or not.How can a bullet harm a robot but not a human? Are there real bullets inside the gun or some kind of rubber pellets? I mean if the bullet carries enough energy to penetrate a robot body, it would do the same with a real human.

Theres a lot they never thought through before making the show. I mean they could have explained it away by using water guns or nerf guns and the robots reacting like its real. Your right that a blank strong enough to penetrate a robot body and clothes should be able to do the ssme to humans.
My guess is theyre gonna claim the robots have blanks in their guns and the guests use real bullets and when the robots turn homocidal that they start using real ammo.

Second time this has been asked in the thread, my theory is this:

I would assume all of the guns are not your traditional gun powder firearms. Maybe some sort of flechette gun with sensors to not harm organics? I'll bet the gun Deloris dug up is a standard firearm that some human will receive a bullet from.

All sci-fi works better when you suspend disbelief. When you start nitpicking you just wind up ruining the experience for your self.

The creator, Jonathon Nolan, talked about the gun logistics in an interview a couple weeks ago. I can't remember where I read it, but the idea is that they aren't typical bullets. Some kind of tech designed to give the effect of a gunshot wound when shooting a robot. When used against a human there is a harmless impact, which he said is similar to special ballistics used for military training. They actually put a ton of thought into the "science" of the show, which I think will be apparent as it continues. However there is definitely some stuff that is questionable. For example if a guest has a knife or wants to burn down a building, how would other guests be invincible?

sci-fi must have some science in it, hence the name.

No shit Dave. And it's also fiction. Consider the light saber, it's an impossible weapon. But it's also cool as fuck, so who cares?

Science fiction relies heavily on science hence the name. The science itself may be suspect or fantastic but there should be some reasoning how and why it works even if that reason is a special undiscovered energy, dimension etc which only applies to the story.
Too much reliance on fiction as an explanation simply switches the genre to fantasy. Your not wrong to reference star wars. Despite being set in space and having space ships and light sabers its more fantasy than science fiction.

I understand how sci-fi works, I wasn't born yesterday. In fact, I was a teenager when Star Wars premiered, so.... But my original point was, why nitpick the heck out of the show? I'm just going to watch the story unfold and hope it's enjoyable, bullets be damned. So far, it's looking pretty compelling.
