Funny how they forget about the nude roles they did early on. I remember years back i was listening to Howard Stern and he had Marg Helgenberger on as a guest and he asked her would she or had she done any nude scenes and she flat out lied. She said she never had and never would do a nude scene. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there listening and thinking to myself that she showed some nip in species and she had a nude bath scene in a movie called Conundrum. Why lie like that?

 

To hope that we fans might forget about the nude scenes!

 

The guys dick isn't going to be in the film. You can bet that directors ask to inspect abs or pecs or whatever the fuck on male actors if the movie is planning to sell itself on the male leads sex appeal. There is nuance in as much as abs != to lady nipples, but she's building a strawman in this clip all the same.

Male rear nudity has never been uncommon, at least since MPAA ratings began. So her point is completely invalid.

Incredibly, it seems like none of the posters that have responded so far actually understood what she said in the clip.

-She didnt say she's never done nudity, she said she wasnt going to show her tits in THIS film, so why is the director asking to see them?

-She didnt say the guy's dick or ass is going to be in the film. She also didnt say that guys are never asked to show their dicks or asses in any movies, which is of course fairly common.

What she actually said was that the director randomly asked to see her tits while shooting a film that had no topless scene. He just wanted to see them. And her response was that you wouldn't ask a guy to randomly see his dick or ass while shooting a film that didnt call for any male nudity, which makes perfect sense.

 

If she means she was asked to expose herself by the director for reasons entirely unrelated to the film, then she was sexually harassed and should/could have contacted the producers/studio/police. If she is referring to plain sexual harassment then it is undeniably the case that female or homosexual directors will have sexually assaulted male leads in exactly the analogous ways she suggests.

What's much more likely is that in the same way a photographer will try to encourage a model to reveal more during a shoot, this director was trying to encourage her to be okay with revealing more in the film and when he saw it wouldn't work he stopped. In this circumstance, my original point stands that many male leads will have received similar 'encouragement'.

Either way, to suggest that female actors are the sole victims of sexual harassment in the first case or objectification in the later case, is entirely fatuous.

 

Stop trying so hard. Men and women are not the same, nor do we live the same experiences. Its neither accurate nor necessary to chime in claiming men are definitely harrassed just as much by women and gays every time a woman shares an anecdote of harrassment.

 

She said explicitly that what she experienced wouldn't happen to a male actor. It does. The relative frequency is not even, I agree with you.

 

Why do women equate their tits to a guy's dick? I know we really don't have an equivalent to their tits (or not one we're bothered about hiding at least) but our dicks would be equivalent to their pussies, not tits...
