Oh please! The truth hurts I guess? No, someone wearing a miniskirt doesn't deserved to be raped but someone that talks shit/nonsense or happens to take a ridiculous stance on things does need to be ridiculed. Especially in the age of social media. These celebs put their opinions out there and expect everyone to agree with them and get pissy when they don't. Sorry, we are not sheep. We don't need to agree or be nice just for the hell of it. I'm not a social warrior and these celebs do not deserve a "safe space".

 

Feminism, isn't what it was originally intended to be now a days and in a lot of ways women have more rights than men in this country so Feminism (especially today's interpretation) is unnecessary in western society. Example: How many single dads you know that have sole custody of their kids? I'll tell you its not a very high percentage. So yes, Emma calling herself a feminist should get attention, the wrong kind. And I reject the idea that fat people are healthy. Obesity kills more people than practically any other disease so the fat acceptance movement is evil because it literally kills people. And to say you don't discriminate on the opposite sex's attractiveness is laughable. Everyone does, and it's normal. My thoughts on political opinions is that if you are famous for some reason other than political speech, then make your movies, music, tv shows, and shut the hell up. Not just about politics but most anything that will turn people off from going and buying your latest album/movie. And I justify bashing on everyone, not just women for staying stupid stuff. For having opinions that deserve to be criticized, they should be criticized. You guys act like Lindsey Lohan shouldn't have been criticized for her DUIs or Lena Dunham shouldn't have been bashed on for saying she molested her sister when she was a kid. Should we really be nice to the worse of the worse women because they are somewhat attractive? Jodi Arias was not bad looking but should I restrict myself to saying only nice things about her?

 

Oh bullshit. The internet is full of trolls who aren't satisfied until they've contributed their 2 cents worth of moronic stupidity. Seriously, what did Emma Watson ever say that merited the blatantly over the top reactions she's been subjected to? People who sit around and troll the web all day have no life, no social skills and are often barely literate. The problem with social media is it's anti-social.

 

Didn't realize until today that insulting Kanye West or Justin Bieber was going too far (basically just one word beginning with "d" which was not d&ck). Okay, maybe I did it every post I saw them in... I can see scribe's point that crass and thoughtless comments are unnecessary here, but I also appreciate that there is tolerance for opinions and commentary beyond the "terrific post" and "she's hawt" tripe I see on other boards. On boards like those, there is no real point to posting unless you are a regular contributor of content. So, I'll do some self moderation. Everyone knows what West and Bieber are. Many know which women have talent or are just a set of boobs. If I do make a opinionated comment on a post, I'll make sure it is a thoughtful comment. It may not be positive, but I hope it will be relevant and not directly insulting of the celeb. That being said, everyone here needs a beer and to get laid........:2cent:

 

Way too much bullshit on here to respond. But there are two comments that actually make sense here:

So, are you intelligent enough to understand the difference between disagreeing with someone's stance, and then ridiculing their stance, vs. disagreeing with someone's stance, and then ridiculing everything about that person (looks, acting skills, reason for fame, etc. etc.)?

 

I would argue that famous people get ridiculed all the time and it's not just online. Ever talked to a coworker in the office about the ridiculous thing (insert name here) did? I see magazines at the checkout counter that show these celebs in bikinis and the cover says "look who got fat". I would say that because they are celebrities they are going to, and always will be, subjected to extra scrutiny and ridicule for all sorts of things. It may be unfair but JLH is always going to be judged by her weight. And it is mostly because of her movies where she was "the hottest girl in school" etc. People are never going to be happy with those extra lbs. On top of that, if she puts her foot in her mouth for saying something stupid, then that is just another reason to talk about her and everyone will just naturally bring up her weight. Especially in a forum where all you do is look for/and or comment on hot women. The chubby one is going to stick out, then everyone just wants to air all of their issues with her. I think the trolls go overboard sometimes because they are not bringing anything meaningful to the conversation but I just scroll past them. It's not a big deal and sometimes I agree with them, and sometimes I think they are funny. I think in today's world where political correctness has run amuck, it is refreshing to hear some negativity. If the celeb in question is never going to hear/read it then what does it really matter anyways? I doubt anyone would call JLH fat to her face but when it is online and anonymous and the only ones reading it are your forum group, then she'll never know. It's like talking about someone behind their back which everyone does in person anyways. Now the people on twitter when they can directly message a celebrity are another story entirely. I would also say that people in general need to grow a thicker skin. Back when I was a kid, you got bullied and you dealt with it. Sometimes you fought back. At the very least you ignored it. Does anyone remember "sticks and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" how about "I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you". I don't think kids today are taught these, they don't know how to deal with insults, they can't handle people being mean to them. Guess what, you suck it up, you ignore it, ultimately you get over it. And sometimes you fight back. Now a days people want to cry because their feelings are hurt and they'll down a bottle of pills because "they can't even" deal. It's sad how mentally weak our society has become.
