    Not wanting to prolong a discussion, but the main difference with dodge & burn is they are spot/brush tools which can be used to make things look like they are there when they are not in the original image, unlike general area effects like brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue adjustments. I do not use D&B in any of my basic BCS x-rays, but I do use D&B to further improve my enhanced images where they can add or remove shadow or lighten/darken an area for more dramatic effect. That being said, I would not recommend aspiring x-ray artists to use D&B to reveal anything, as often you're just making it up, and that is faking it.

    The other difference is anyone can have the same results when you make the same BCSH level adjustments; when it comes to D&B, it's all up to how you apply them and each result will be different based on your strokes.

    Thanks, but I wasn't looking for a lesson in "D&B". I have been a photographer/artist for over thirty five years and a have worked with almost every form of digital media available for the last twenty-five years. In photography, we manipulated exposure to prints for a desired effect. Dodge to lighten, burn to darken. Depends on what your after. "D&B" are effects that can be applied to digital media through many different means. These effects are modeled after the photography techniques.

    I was just trying to offer defense to a guy who takes his time to contribute to the community while others try to ridicule him for his technique while they are thread hopping to up their post count. It's his art work so please say thanks, say nothing or go pound sand.

    The problem with D&B is not the tool, its the tools that use the tool. If you review the first 500 pages of this thread, a lot of fakerays were created, primarily using D&B. A lot of animosity (exacerbated by trolling) resulted in artists leaving and/or deleting thier posts.

    As far as members "thread hopping to up their post count", the use of or emojis or one liners (eg., awesome, LOL, ...) is how members boost post counts; posting pics takes effort, creating and posting edits even moreso.

    That said, everyone is encouraged to practice their skills here, despite the feedback from the tough crowd.

    Anyone willing to try this pic of Alessandra Ambrosio? She's definitely not wearing a bra and you can see those awesome puffy nipples even without any x-ray processing but it would be great to see a better view of them :)
