Collins is not charged with leaking the photos after taking them. "Investigators have not uncovered any evidence linking Collins to the actual leaks or that Collins shared or uploaded the information he obtained," the Justice Department said in its statement.

He accessed the women's accounts through one of two methods: He sent emails that looked like they came from an Apple or Google representative, or he guessed their passwords. He faces up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines, plus potential restitution owed to the victims.

I mean, just look at that picture of JLaw up there....he's a hero in my book and a statue of him should be erected. (pun intended)

 

If he didn't leak or share the info/images, then how did they get out there? And if they have no evidence of such, how the hell can they charge him? Was he dumb enough to keep all the content on his hard drive or an external drive? I find that hard to believe. Some shady legal shit going on here.

 

I guess over 100 people have pled guilty to felony hacking as well. The interesting thing is as far as a I know nobody tried to make money off the photos.

 

I remember being on /b/ when they were first being dumped(as far as I recall that was the original place there were spread from) and the OP was asking for bitcoin payments to release more images of various celebs. Payments were made, images were released. Someone made $.

i bet the guy released the stuff, then those released it and those people posted on /b/ and attempted to make money. some just want the challenge to get and money wasnt the goal, while others see it as easy money if someone would give to them for doing nothing.

i think we all start a commissary fund for the guy and hook im up while in prison.

Most of the ones I seen where taken in a bathroom I guess due to it's mirror. So I prefer to zone in on the bits that are interesting. Camera phones, the greatest invention of the last one twenty years, imho.
