Crispin Glover is batshit crazy. Mike Tyson is batshit crazy. The guy wearing the inside out leisure suit who panhandles in front of my local pharmacy is batshit crazy. Emma Watson, by comparison, is a paragon of sanity. Just because she has some unpopular (around here at least) opinions about the world doesn't make her nuts, despite all the mean spirited ridicule it has opened her up to on the internet, an arena that is rife with ignorance and stupidity. Are you telling me that if you had a chance run in with Emma Watson in public, or private, you're first inclination would be to tell her she's a crazy bitch, that she's foolish and naive and that she should shut the fuck up? That her opinions and outrage are misguided and misplaced?

She was charming in This Is The End, though she was playing herself, so make of that what you will.

Obvious you are smitten and a modern male/feminist and i respect that but tobehonest if i met her and was having a 1 on 1 debate about feminism id tell her straight, move on hun ur a beautiful woman who got fucked royally by the paps and the sexualisation of her hermione persona, and stop letting it be a hang up and invest her time in her acting credentials and do a helen mirren/kate winslet/keira knightley and use what you got tallent and otherwise to become a great actress of note rather than a bitter traumatised woman, she could be so much more but letting herself fall into the feminazi bracket while being sucha mediocre actress just condemns her into the depths of the likes of megan fox, i like u dude but ur way wrong on this one.

This. Even if you gulp feminist Kool-Aid by the bucketful, her statement should make you uneasy. That claim can be easily fact checked and when it doesn't pan out it chips away at her credibility. Forget the Anti's coming after her - she's marginalizing herself.

On a related note, I don't think I've ever seen an authentic upskirt photo of a legitimate celebrity taken by a paparazzo lying on the pavement and shooting up. I remember someone got below Britney Spears' skirt while she was climbing a flight of stairs, though it wouldn't surprise me if K-Fed took those.

 

So in other words you'd tell her, "Emma you're too cute and stupid to have an opinion worth taking seriously, so why don't you just stick to repeating the bunches of words other people write for you to say in works of fiction."

And no, I'm not smitten with Emma Watson. In fact, I'm on record here stating that I don't understand her appeal, mainly because she was just a girl when I saw the first Potter film in my early 40s. My baby daughter loved those movies at the time. So no, I never looked at her as a sex symbol as she grew up. eww

As far as being a feminist is concerned, I have a mother and three sisters who are more well rounded and intelligent than most of the men I've known in the past 53 years; and I have nieces and cousins who can be tossed into the mix. My oldest sister is one of the most respected modern American anthropologists in her field of study, and a professor emeritus of Oregon State University. To me, feminism isn't a movement, it's an ongoing issue of the human rights agenda that has its roots at the turn of the 20th Century.

I look at everything that happens in the present from an historical perspective and it flusters me that so much old history is being regurgitated by people who think they are modern and clever. The fact is that the same bias, ignorance and stupidity are repeated in each generation no matter how enlightened people claim to be. And at this point I've long stopped talking about you, even though you're attitude is just another symptom of the same cultural sickness.
