Erin was awarded 55 million dollars in her stalker court case. To me this was 55 million dollars too much.

Yes I understand that the video was not planned and she didn't ask for it to be filmed but her "my life was ruined" defense just wreaks of absurdity.
This video enhanced her career and added to her fanbase. She got heaps of endorsements and a more prominent role in broadcasting because of it. It basically put her on the map even more than she was prior to it.

She walks around naked long enough to be filmed for a lengthy period of time and she feels violated? Is it normal to be naked in hotel rooms? If it is, what is she complaining about because everybody does it! Plus the guy wanted to film Erin Andrews naked and not Barbara Walters naked...Erin should be flattered that folks wanted to see her.

If she wanted to be disgraced, the "stalker" could have waited for a guy to go into the room and wait for the "action" to start before filming.

Remember "getting a boost in my career ruined my life" is a good way to get somewhere in life!

She over-dramatized the hell out of it

She acted like Hitler rose from the dead and Zombie Hitler geocided the world's puppies while seeing a vid of her cooter.

She did it for the money.

As a person who works in the hotel industry, you do run into more people NUDE in their rooms than you'd expect. I have my fair share of horror stories of nude customers and then some that when I see them, I can't get it out of my head because they look damn good and wished I could've ogled alot more.

I hate what happened to her. I truly do because what he did isn't "borderline stalker". The hotel EMPLOYEE openly gave information that he SHOULDN'T have had. We're getting noticed from corporate every day as a reminder of WHAT can happen.

Did I watch the video? Yes. Do I think it was worth 55 mil? No.

Well that's some very twisted logic. First of all, there is no real proof that the video helped her career. Secondly, this was a big time invasion of privacy. Thirdly, it was really messed up that the hotel not only told this stalker guy exactly what room she was in, but give him the room right next to hers. Fourthly, that $55 million isn't really $55 million because that dude was ordered to pay $28 million of that and he's probably broke. Then there are the lawyer fees and taxes. And fifthly, it is normal for women to be naked in their rooms before they get dressed for whatever event they are attending.

I actually clicked on this link thinking I had missed Erin Andrews going on a post-settlement rant lmao but to weigh in on it, the whole "it ruined my life" seems a little dramatic for that shitty/grainy little video. Kinda hard to argue that your life is ruined when you still have a great career, supportive family, and the whole world acknowledging you were violated etc. But for the dumbass peeping tom that took the video? His life probably ain't lookin so good lol

Your comments indicate some deep issues my friend. You should seek help for your idea that a woman ought to feel flattered because a deranged stalker wanted to see her naked. That's a rape mentality.

Well, it wasn't a settlement, it was a verdict. The settlement will likely come after an appeal is filed and will be for far less than the $27 million apportioned to the hotel.

Way to blame the victim...how compassionate of you. Just because she feels secure enough to walk around naked in a PRIVATE setting doesn't mean she's comfortable broadcasting it to the whole world.

You don't know how she felt about it...only she does. Just because she still led a successful career after doesn't mean she wasn't feeling like absolute shit inside. If I was violated that way, I would have tons of anxiety every time I checked into a new hotel, used a public bathroom, tried on clothes in a dressing room, etc.. It's not fair to judge someone unless you've walked in their shoes. Some people are just good at keeping their emotions in check and moving forward. It wasn't her fault she became more popular, that was just a byproduct. She might have a pretty smile on tv but we don't know what happened in privacy. Some people can suffer from severe anxiety/depression but you would never know because they can put on a good public face.

Just seems ridiculous to blame the victim. Everyone has a right to privacy and her privacy was severely violated. The whole idea she should be "flattered" that people want to gawk at her nakedvideo is just a disgusting mindset. That's like saying, "She should be flattered she was raped twice in three years, guys must find her REALLY attractive."

We should at least deal in facts:

It was a verdict, it will be appealed, and reduced substantially. As your link states.

I never heard her say that. I heard her say she was embarrassed and ashamed. Never, "my life is ruined". I did see her say it ruined her relationship with Stoll, but that's nowhere near "ruined my life".

    Yes.

The whole my life is ruined is such a joke. The world has changed because of the internet. Now, I think there's more hot celebrities I've seen naked than I haven't seen naked. If she was doing something disgusting, or criminal, that would be a different story. A beautiful woman who puts a lot of effort into looking good is checking out her naked body in a mirror. Big deal.

I know this a website to gawk at women but I'm truly surprised by some of your mindsets. It's like you totally lack any type of empathy and just see women as nothing more than eye candy or a piece of meat strictly for males.

Then I see threads making fun of celebrities like Emma Watson for taking a year off to promote feminism saying it's a waste of time/we don't need more bs feminism in our lives.
Hello!? Look at some of the comments in this thread. This is EXACTLY why we need feminism.

Her mother testified that Erin claims she is always afraid that people will get to her. Apparently, she is deathly afraid of people and the public yet she is always in the public eye. It is not hard to find out where she is going to be on any given day. She travels across the country constantly, she does tv shows both live and taped, she posts regularly on Instagram which can reveal locations, and who knows what else? That does not tell me she is being completely honest and she is bringing out the waterworks for show. Not for a minute do I buy any of it.

Isis is selling women into sexual slavery, 11.6% of African women have been a victim of sexual violence at some point in their lives, and here we got 55million court ordered compensation for this lady exposing her ugly tits and a decent ass?

Posts on an internet forum are still a cross cut of the general population. I've seen similar comments on multiple sites...Gawker, Buzzfeed, various news sites, etc..

Sometimes the internet is actually more accurate since people are more willing to show their truly ugly side knowing they're anonymous...they're too chicken shit to voice that opinion in public (I have a gut feeling people making those comments most likely aren't the social butterflies anyway but that's beside the point).

BTW...I know some of you are saying she was a nobody before this incident. Anyone that watches sports definitely knew about her.

She was named Playboy's Sexiest Sportscaster Alive for 2007 and 2008....again, BEFORE the incident.

Remember, this incident happened in July of 2008
If you do a simple google search for her for links prior to 2008, you'll find tons of articles and forum posts.
I'm done with this thread...making my brain hurt.

Based on the argumentative skills of most of these fools, I'm guessing that most were barely born when she started reporting. So, not surprised at all that they think this event 'made' her career.
