I thought it was great. It's exactly what a Supergirl series should be. It's fun, light-hearted, the effects are terrific, and when she gets into super-fights, they actually look and feel like battles between truly super-powered characters.

Not bad for a pilot, room for improvement.

Clarks mom in smallville was played by Annette O'toole, who played Lana Lang in the 3rd Christopher Reeves Superman movie. Helen Slater played Supergirl in the 80s movie. Dean Cain, who played her adopted father in the pilot episode was Superman on Lois & Clark. I thought that was a pretty cool nod.

As far as the show goes, I thought it was enjoyable overall. Some cheesey dialog here and there and the delivery of those lines felt a bit too "comical". I like the fact that Superman is mentioned a lot. Im not sure if this series ties into the movies (Superman returns, Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman), like Agents of Shield with the marvel movies or not, though it does seem like it since Olsen mentioned that the first heroic act that Superman did was save a plane, which he did in Superman returns. If so, that might explain the govt agency things since Batman vs. Superman is going to address how the earth would/should handle an alien like Superman, especially if he decided to go rogue. As of right now, ill be on an episode by episode basis. Right now, im up for watching the 2nd episode.

No he was right, Helen Slater played Lara El, Kal el's mother and wife of Jor el. Kara's (Supergirl's) father zor el was in love with Lara which is where I was misremembering that she played supergirl's mom.
Terri Hatcher was also in smallville she played Lois lanes mother Ella lane (Who had died of cancer)

DC TV shows won't tie into the movies the way Marvel stuff does. More than likely they'll have a separate TV universe and movie universe, although I don't think they have officially stated that.
