Manon was also one of my favorites despite not appearing in SI much. I neutralized your vote, I guess... Manon was my choice. Oops!

Thanks for discussing... I wish more would. It makes all of this work more entertaining for me. We're getting good participation voting-wise, but people rarely say a peep.

Group 64:
Gigi Hadid (74.0%) defeated Caprice Bourret (26.0%)
Group 29:
Elsa Benitez (56.1%) defeated May Andersen (43.9%)
Group 51:
Monica Bellucci (60.8%) defeated Bridget Hall (39.2%)

My spin:
Three interesting matches! Gigi Hadid got about 3/4 of the vote against a decent challenger, so that was impressive. Incidentally, her recent Twitter post addressing the people criticising her “non runway” body type made me a fan of hers despite not caring much for her up until then.

Elsa Benitez and May Andersen were quite close the whole way, but in the end Elsa prevailed. That was a tough draw for May, who was 4-2 with an average vote percentage over 60% coming into the match. Given that Elsa’s remaining opponent is the overmatched 1960s model Mary Sturdevant, May’s fate as a Group Stage victim is likely sealed.

Monica Bellucci pulled off an upset, of sorts. Her ranking is 124 compared to Bridget Hall’s 74, but my pre-tournament odds gave them the same chance at winning their group. Both still need to face group favorite Valeria Mazza, so it’s still possible for Bridget to make a comeback with a convincing win over Valeria.

No surprises again today, but Paulina Porizkova became the first to record a clean sheet in the 2015 tournament, as she earned 100% of the vote against Gail O’Neill. Gail was ranked #238 coming in, which is third worst amongst all models in the tournament. So, Paulina’s clean sheet is not too surprising.

My spin:
No surprises in the final results today, but there was a mild surprise in vote percentage. Personally, I’m shocked that Dominique Piek didn’t get more of the vote against Samantha Jones. After all, Samantha’s only SI Swimsuit photo was of her fully covered in a raincoat! So, nearly 12% of voters must be from London or Seattle.

Damn I went 0-3 for the first time. It was hard to go against Marloes Horst who is beautiful and was sitting just right in her photo, however Maggie Smith's pic was 42 years earlier and to be in the same ballpark with Horst couldn't be ignored. It looks like a few others agreed - must be the old guys haha.

 

Ironically, I also went 0-3 on that round, too. I'm not that old. Seriously, Maggie Smith was a beautiful woman. She was 40 years ahead of her time.

 

Because I missed yesterday’s matches, it’s double the fun today. There are some interestng ones in here, especially perhaps Lily Aldridge vs. old school supermodel Naomi Campbell.

My spin:
Today’s results saw the two extremes: a clean sheet by Elle Macpherson and a draw between Melissa Keller and Mallory Snyder.

First, I’ll make note of Elle’s blanking of Kathy Loghry. Poor Kathy never stood a chance against Elle’s see-through swimsuit. Meanwhile, the matchup of Melissa vs. Mallory was the most even so far in terms of ranking, as the #106 and #119 models faced each other. That manifested itself in a draw, so the door is open for Ana Beatriz Barros, their group mate, to capitalize.

Other matches went as expected, with especially impressive performances by Esti Ginzburg and Yesica Toscanini.
