I can feel the chill.

 

Entering the park from the northwest takes you through a region that was ravaged by wildfire a couple of years ago. Ground foliage always recovers first but there are still thousands of charred trees standing. Since these images were shot over wide vistas it's difficult to see how much damage was done. I didn't feel like taking pictures in the forest. It was kind of sad.

Yosemite Valley. The granite cathedrals are spectacular! Even though there are active waterfalls they are flowing at nowhere near the volume they should be due to a frightening lack of snowfall over the winter months. Even in early March it should look like a winter wonderland in the park. Instead it looks like summertime, despite the leafless aspen trees.

​

Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove. Sequoias are the largest living thing on Earth. The oldest of them soar 300 feet above the ground. These examples aren't quite that large, but they are still enormous by any standard. They make the Pondarosa pines, which are giants in their own right, look like twigs.

Poulnabrone Dolmen.

This dramatic site, on the karstic limestone pavement of the Burren, is one of the most famous Irish dolmens. 
The name Poulnabrone literally means 'The hole of the sorrows'.
 The thin capstone sits on two 1.8m (6ft) high portal stones to create a chamber in a 9m (30ft) low cairn. 
The eastern portal stone was replaced in 1985, following a discovery that it was unfortunately cracked;
excavations during the repair showed that this site dated back to about 2500 BC. 
 Uncremated remains were found in the chamber, its portico, and in the grykes 
(crevices in the limestone floor). In particular, there were the main body bones 
of one newborn baby, six juveniles, and 16-22 adults. Only one of the adults lived beyond 
40 years, and the majority were under 30 when they died. An analysis of all the fragments
 of disarticulated bones revealed a hard physical life and a coarse diet; it was further proved that the bones
 were naturally defleshed elsewhere (by exposure or burial) and only then moved within the chamber at Poulnabrone.

A few pics from my short visit to Gothenburg swedens second biggest town. This is from a high class area with lots of nice waterfront appartements. The old rig was a so called east indian boat. It travelled to india and other oriental countries to gather goods to take back to sweden such as potery, spices and other valuables. I had great weather which was a bit of a surprise as the place is known for quick weather changes due too its place near the ocean.

 

The ice has now broken on the fifth largest lake in Sweden.
Pulling it together to a big wall.
Yesterday about 3 meters high ... today even higher.
