    Incorrect. It was a fun joke that she was awful, but she wasn't. She was really, really good. She just wasn't the best.

    Multiple doubles championships, ranked #8 in the ENTIRE world (I guarantee you're not 8th best in the world at anything; neither am I). She was a phenomenal tennis player who could never win the big one.

    Iirc, in singles she actually didn't win any small ones either.
    She was good but couldn't raise her game to the same levels as others, and hence being constantly outclassed by higher seeded players

    She never played the small ones and that was part of her problem. People in tennis thought she should play small tournaments to pad her record and get more experience, but her mother thought attention and exposure were more important. Alla Kournikova was not unlike Kris Jenner or Dina Lohan. She used her daughter as a pawn to draw attention and fame to herself. The women's field was also loaded with talent back then, and I don't think she would have any trouble wining tournaments today. :2cent:

    When i say "small ones", i'm talking about any non-Grand Slam tournament on the women's tour.
    I think one record she holds is she's the highest ranked player with zero tournament wins.

    Women's tennis in the last 7-8 yrs has been the weakest i've seen in my lifetime, so yeah.. she may have run deeper more frequently.
