Don't listen to pop. But some of these young ladies do have great voices, like Demi Lovato for example.

For my own part I like rock music of all eras, from Elvis to Sabbath to Rage Against the Machine to Jimmy's Chicken Shack. I love the blues. Growing up in Chicago during the '70s I got to see many of the old greats live at various music festivals. I dig jazz and classical and rock-a-billy and country. Old country. Contemporary country not so much, though I admit there's some pretty good toe tappers being recorded. Whenever someone mentions R&B I immediately think of Marvin Gaye or Aretha and the like. That's the R&B of my generation.

There are a lot of great new acts out there who are worthy of better promotion than they get from their labels, and that's a damn shame. Frankly, I think the major labels are cheating the public by only giving heavy promotion to a relative handful of recording artists. The reason the same acts keep selling the most records is because they're also benefiting from the most promotion. That's why it's no surprise when the same acts keep showing up on the awards shows year after year.

I listen to everything from classical to German industrial metal Blutengel to blackmore's night but i just cant get into 99% of pop songs the music is so over produced that all the life has being sucked out of it and to me it seems that pop stars these treat music as more of a side show act to get them as much attention as possible everything they do just feels so fake and preplanned from there songs too all the personal DRAMA!! . Which is a real shame since some of the pop stars out there involved in all the current BS can really sing just look up Miley Cyrus - The Backyard Sessions - "Jolene"

Gen X here, the internet has given me the freedom to listen to anything I want, when I want and none of what I listen to is pop or even top 40 any more. But I can never say no to a naked, half-naked, scantily clothed always on the radio pop chick. That's music to my eyes. ;-)

I'll listen to just about anything as long as it has a decent tune/beat to it, mostly do so just for some background noise while I'm surfing net, gaming, doing house chores, etc., though I do try to pick some appropriate music for the mood I'm in or game I'm playing. If I happen to find them attractive then that's just something a little extra for later :D

Range from country - metal - pop - classical, not so much into rap unless I can understand the lyrics, same goes for some of the 'angry' metal bands (really any band/singer/rapper for that matter) that like to eat the mic as they're singing and all I hear is a cacophony of noise.

I'm all for different tastes and all, but you? You do not bash Clapton. You do not take one of the all time greats and call his tunage senseless. I do believe one would get his ass kicked for doing so.

90's pop is good to listen to but i think music in general went to shit in the mid 2000's.

I have listened to Ariana and didn't think she sounded too bad. But admittedly it was a CD. I like listening to Katy Perry, but she sounds awful away from the studio. I know Ariana cockteases but I'm an easy target. And would do Katy in a second. The only one I can think of at the moment who sounds good whatever is Pink. And I do fancy her.

As a 90s kid, I was brought up when Pop was huge. I blame that on the fact that I like a lot of different music. On my iPhone I have all kinds of music from Metallica to Britney, Eminem to Avenged Sevenfold (favourite current song 'This Means War') and Johnny Cash to Limp Bizkit. As for modern day music, there are a few I like the sound of. I like some of Miley's older stuff, but I blame the Disney channel for sticking them in my head. I like one Taylor Swift song (I Knew You Were Trouble) and I cant deny, she is incredibly talented voice wise. Never heard any songs by Ariana Grande or Selena Gomez and I am incredibly out-dated with the current chart-toppers. I know for a fact though, that after having to listen to them (nieces and TV appearances) that I cant stand One Direction or Justin Bieber. They're untalented and just like every other current boy band (I'd be a hypocrite to add any 90s bands as I have a few guilty pleasure songs from that era), they all sound the same and that sound isn't very good.

Having said that, most current female pop-stars look mega hott and the more skin they show, the more I'm liking there success haha.

I'm gonna catch an earful of shit for this but here goes...I'm die hard old Metal and much older rock. I do enjoy a lot of the newer alternative also. It's been mentioned more than once already, little covering a lot of attention! One in particular, the Grande chick. Still looks pencil thin in any she does or doesn't wear. Sorry Guys just my take on it. The music isn't all that good or will stand the test of time. The main attraction is all the hype that surrounds these performers. And it's just that hype.

I've watched a few of their videos, but I'm not impressed with the music. As far as I'm concerned, these pop-tarts are strippers with big media backing. I like their vidoes a lot better with the sound turned off and "You Can Leave Your Hat On" cranked up instead.

I mainly listen to jam-bands: Gov't Mule, .moe, Umphrey's McGee, Black Crowes, String Cheese Incident, Phish, Frank Zappa, My Morning Jacket, Allman Brothers, Dave Matthews, Trucks Tedeschi, etc. These are groups of some of finest virtuosos who improvise together live. Don't care about genres, those are just marketing niches invented by record labels. My taste is for whatever is raw and real and genius. It could not get any farther from the pasteurized, artificially flavored, imitation music-like entertainment products these girls are selling.

On the other hand, I've never gotten a hard-on watching Warren Haynes.

What's important with pop music is to determine if the song is popular because it's a good song naturally, or if it's popular because it's been written to become popular. Of course these lines get blurred when people perceive the song written to become popular as being a good song naturally ;)

Being a musician myself (drummer for 26 years) I listen to and enjoy every genre of music. I primarily like progressive rock/metal and fusion/acid jazz, but I do love a lot of pop. Katy Perry being my favorite pop artist, but I also enjoy Christina, Avril, Ariana, etc.

I don't go out of my way to buy their albums or even listen to their albums in full, but I do listen (and like) the majority of their singles. That includes Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Victoria Justice, and Hilary Duff, among a few others.

Ariana has the best voice and is the most talented out of all of them, though.
