Who Qualifies as a Celebrity on Phun?

Couldn't we just say anyone who's name is marketable is a celeb!!! That way you could just ask yourself would this person be able to get anything with just their name if not they are not a celeb post them in the other sections.

I frankly have no problem with someone who was a little known cast member on a TV show or just on a few episodes being posted if they are hot!! After all someone here might remember them.

I would like to suggest maybe a sexy celeb section with just bikini,slips,see-through,underwear, & nudity. It would be so nice if we didn't have to look though 50 posts of pap pics of our favorites with 5 layers of clothes on hoping there is something worth while in them. I've missed a few really good posts because of this and I know I'm not the only one hoping for something good when they see their favorites name listed.

It's ironic that "Any Actor with a Recognizable Name/Body of Work" was the highest in votes.
I say this since I did vote for that, only as it was the closest on the list. In saying that, the ole chestnut of "Well she is famous in the UK or in Denmark etc" then becomes prevalent.
Also many will want to see a certain "celeb" - clothed, half-naked, naked, or their personal way. The owners here will want you just to be here, regardless.

A Celeb should be known by the "Majority" of members. Not just because "I" have seen a Page-3 girls name in CP 1000 times from scanning the Forum each day.
I mean really know their name or work etc, for example if 100 new members joined today, the "majority" should know the celebrity.

If not, then they go in other relevant Forums.

 

What about all the people that aren't known by the majority that don't fit into any other available categories. Probably about half of the actresses and way more than half the legit fashion models that appear in CP wouldn't be known to the majority if they didn't regularly see them on forums & blogs etc., and how would we go about determining whether the majority knows them or not?

There is no Fashion Model forum at phun, or a lesser known actress forum, or a female athletes forum. It's either celebrity or porn those are our only 2 choices.

The fact is that the internet and forums like these are now just as influential as traditional media when it comes to determining who is & isn't a celebrity.

 

Here are a few forums for examples of this being sorted out. Just make the major ones into a Major Thread in the appropriate place.

(this is just with 'athlete' in search, as examples of a bigger picture, imagine if I searched fashion, model, swimsuit etc - just set Major Category threads in the right areas):

Then you'll end up with 20 different model threads, and 20 different athlete threads etc. etc. Re-posts and people arguing about whether this person or that person qualifies to be in this thread or that thread. What is Emily Ratajkowski doing in a Fashion Model thread she's never walked a runway, or appeared on the cover of a major fashion mag she just takes off her clothes, Maria Sharapova is too a celebrity, how dare you etc. etc.

Every new category you make is just another arbitrary line drawn separating things along a continuum, and the closer you get to those lines the more blurry the distinction becomes, so creating new categories just ends up creating new gray areas that could be argued over incessantly leading to the creation of even more categories. It's a vicious circle. The fact is that things don't always fit neatly into categories and never will.

So you're (meaning anyone) is a celeb purest and you don't like these filthy glamour models mucking up your precious celeb forum, so you stick them in CX. Then someone in CX is going to be like enough with these glamour models I'm here for celebrity social media pics etc. this stuff just doesn't belong. So you'll stick them in the model forum then someone there will be like enough of this shit I'm here to see girls shoving dildos in their ass not for some girl who won't even show her pussy.

No matter what we do, no matter where we put things somebody is always going to think it should be done differently. That's just the way it is, and we all have to get used to the fact that if you want it your way you have to do it yourself, otherwise except what you get.

 

Phun just doesn't want to be like other sites.
It doesn't take making 100 threads. Models here at Phun, we now assume is Porn Models....right? Maybe that is wrong.
Fashion goes into Models Forum. A fashion model is a Model. We have a Poll on it now.
Make Porn a new forum with all it's entities. It is big enough, since Phun advertises it as such.

It only really takes 1 or 2 new Main forums if you want to get minimalist, to make things work. The under-forums will follow.
People just don't want to change. I won't lose any sleep over it.

anybody who gets paid to pose for photographers/artists is a model by definition.
Glamour Models, Fashion Models, Adult Models, etc.

Porn already has it's own forums, they just don't call it porn.

Work for who? What works for you doesn't necessarily work for me or anyone else. That's the reality we have to deal with. That's why this debate is going on now.

There certainly is some of that going on, but the salient point that you seem to be missing is that creating more categories doesn't put an end to debate and argument, it merely shifts that debate towards different arbitrary lines.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with creating more categories, but doing so doesn't solve anything, because not everyone is going to agree. You are essentially taking 1 big gray area and breaking it up into a number of smaller gray areas.

You are not wrong, you just aren't any more right than anyone else.

Actors are fairly easy to judge: if you don't have an IMDB page or at least a wiki yet, you're nobody.

For models, comics, hosts and reality stars, it gets trickier.

It's an English-speaking board, so that should at least narrow it down some. A woman only famous in Denmark or Japan wouldn't be known to most people reading this.

Beyond that, I don't know how you'd determine who the majority of member know. I'm familiar with Velvet Sky and other pro-wrestling women, but somebody who doesn't like wrestling would have no idea who they are.
I've never seen an episode of Chrisly Knows Best or Big Brother, and I couldn't name or recognize anyone from shows like that. I don't watch much tennis, I know Sharapova and the Williams sisters of course, but I can't name any other active female players off the top of my head. But,who am I to say they're not famous enough, then? We can't poll for every genre, sport, tv show, channel, etc.. to see who a majority of board members would be familiar with.

Incidentally, I think most people on this board (and elsewhere) had never heard of Abigail Spencer before The Fappening.

And that's OK. I didn't create the poll to determine policy, just to get a feeling for prevailing opinion. It's useful in its own way.

Since I signed up in 2008 four new forums (Creative Backyard, Ama Models, Celebrity Extra, Sexy Videos Amateurs) have been created, as well as two sub-forums (Sexy Videos HD, Softcore/Erotic Movies). Creating the first 3--CB, AMF and CX--caused all kind of an uproar, yet I don't think anyone would argue that they've proven to be popular among the members. The creation of the others three weren't open to debate, yet they were intuitive enough that it doesn't matter.

I like the fact that phun isn't overburdened with specialty forums, but I feel there's room for one or two more to accommodate those posts that don't quite fit the mold of the forums that are available. The fact is, the internet is a source of a vast amount of content and we should at least try to create a dedicated venue for the more popular interests, at least concerning the content that is already being posted here on a regular basis, so it doesn't get buried due to the fact that it's being posted where most people don't care to view it.

 

I say anyone who has at least some sort of following, regardless of what field. I know a ton of hot YouTube chicks who get 500,000+ views a day, but if I said any of their names right now, you probably wouldn't know any of them. Doesn't mean they're not famous in their own right. They still have huge followings. And by sharing people like that on this board, then it helps grow their following. I'd say 70% percent of the people posted on here, I've never heard of. Doesn't mean I go into their threads and try to refute their celebrity status.

 

I agree. I enjoyed the Cowboy cheerleaders to the A listers to the Z listers. Barely anything is posted now

 

The way things have been going for far to long, the answer seems to be : any skank that has a picture anywhere in the world.

 

Who qualifies as a celebrity on Phun? Well, anyone who has about 17,000 posts about absolutely nothing, sometimes makes people laugh when he's not annoying them, while also engaging in an on-again off-again relationship with spiderswims--that would qualify as a celebrity to me.

 

What did I do?

 

Other than the occasional obscure model from low circulation men's mags, celebs by association, or persons' of questionable internet fame, I think the celeb forum is accurate enough in terms of what type of individual they allow to be posted.

If I had a slight beef it would be that every celeb image isn't worthy of being posted. While it's not for me to judge, quality control from the posters themselves could be slightly better.

 

This morning, I had to wade through a dozen posts of unknown chicks from Playboy Mexico...
Are these Mexican celebrities that are unknown to the rest of the world, or are they just typical Playboy models?
And why are they in a "celebrities" forum? Sure, they're fun to look at, but I come to a celeb forum looking for celebs.
I don't want to make more work for the mods, but maybe the posters of pics in the wrong forums should be issued warnings...
