Why don't actresses pose nude or don't do nude scenes anymore?

There is that difference between "nude" and "naked" on camera. Cameron Diaz being "nude" on camera is showing her ass.

Scarlett Johannson is "naked" in Under The Skin.

Also if Cameron is naked, its in no small part; thanks to Jason Segal. Whose just walking around from scene to scene proudly showing off his cock.

To an extent. Images meant for the magazine (like all magazines) suffer from too much retouching, but I've noticed an opposite trend for the Cybergirls, especially the Amateurs. Unfortunately those girls don't make the magazine, unless they become playmates. I would never call anything Holly Randall does stale, and she's a major contributor. Arnie Frietag maybe, but he's been with the magazine forever.

You are dead right on all of this. Hell, 15 years ago, I could rattle off the last 12 Playmates off the top of my head by month, tell you which one was PMOY, which one SHOULD have been PMOY, and which ones were just there to try and be Hef's next GF (of 6). Now, even though I still get the magazine and *ahem* enjoy the playmate/s each month, I can't name half of them, and need a refresher course every year when PMOY rolls around. It doesn't help that Playboy's own pay website was/is a joke, to the point that despite it being the only porn I ever paid for, almost entirely for my love of Playmates, I stopped subscribing when they changed it to PlayboyPlus or whatever the fuck they're calling it these days. Their continual pushing AWAY from the Playmates as stars hurts, too. You're absolutely right that the mainstream media (or at least mainstream entertainment media) used to cover the PMOY - I remember that FONDLY. Hell, I remember ET used to cover specific Playboy pictorials! Bunch of Hawaiian tropic girls are posing for Playboy? We'll give that 3 minutes of airtime! Now? They're too busy covering what Kim Kardashian had for lunch.

It doesn't help that Playboy has changed. Every month there's a complete nobody in a pictorial. Some European model that no one's ever heard of and never will again gets one of the three pictorials, and they're blatantly pointless. And then they'll do another photoshoot with random models and not even tell you who the women are! I'm not buying Playboy to pick out tips on slutty swimsuits to buy, I'm here for the girls! Tell me who I'm looking at, damnit! Throw in double issues, meaning subscribers like me only get 10 issues a year instead of 12, increasingly fewer pages and pictures dedicated to the Playmate of the Month (I swear, in 5 years, if the magazine is still around, the Centerfold will be a stand-alone item with no other pictures or article to go along with it), and duller and duller articles. I really did used to READ the magazine. Now, if there's a single article a month worth reading, I'm surprised.

There are signs of hope - the cover art has stepped it up in the last year or so. No more boring babe standing in front of a blank wall or something (though you still get those every now and then). And the Playmates are getting better - less plastic bimbos, more actual GND types (though you still get a fair share of implanted blonde "bombshells" that someone still thinks is the magazine's bread and butter). And they'd actually gone 6 years in a row without picking a straight-up blonde for PMOY until this year, which is unheard of. But I doubt the magazine sticks around long enough to improve on these signs, and even if it does, I don't trust Cooper Hefner with the brand - Hef's douche of a son is clearly an asshat who treats women like shit and doesn't respect them half as much as his father does, which is really saying something.

Nothing about PB is exciting anymore, and Frietag needs to be retired. Hire some of the photogs who take the shots for Met-Art, X-Art or Fem-Joy. HR isn't anything special either, at least for PB, on her or her mother's site, yes. Like it's been mentioned in this thread already, I used to be able to name a Centerfold, can't now, and I've peered at their pictorials, but I can name models who have posted for the pay-sites I've mentioned.

And another thing PB needs to do, get back to girl-next-door. Bring back natural breasts, pubic hair. Take a few shoots outside, stop with the set shoots. NATURAL light is your friend.

Actually, I've noticed a decided trend going BACK to more nudity.

I even mentioned it here on phun in a reply a few months ago. I'm hoping for full on early-80's nudity myself (remember when girls laughed and smiled while nekkid in movies?)
