No more add "Adds" but there is a new Icon.

We've decided to do away with the Add "Adds" thread. Why? Because we're lazy, and so are you.

The way I (and others) see it is, if you can't be bothered to recheck a thread for new content, why should bringing it to your attention be our onus? You should show your appreciation for additional content posters by being ever vigilant to the possibilities each new post in a thread gives promise to.

Or in other words, how hard is it to click and scroll?

However, all is not lost. We've added a new icon to the post icons menu. The icon can be added to any OP by the OP by simply going to Advanced Edit and clicking on the radio next to the symbol. This, of course, is dependent upon the OP doing regular audits of their threads to check for Adds. Or you can send them a PM alerting them of the fact if you have contributed extra content.

But don't contact the staff, that would be counter-intuitive.

Also, if you want to keep up to date with a thread, look into using thread subscriptions which you can then check in your UserCP (click "settings" at the top of the page). Not every update to the thread will be an "add", but it works well enough.

The big green plus won't work out by the simple reason that we can't edit our thread titles ourselves. Only a mod can do that. FAIL.

 

Okay, so the utility is that to put "ADDS" in a thread title, a mod has to do it, but with this symbol the OP of the post can do it?

I think this sort of discourages posters other than the OP from adding content to a thread -- say, someone starts a thread with pics of Emma Watson from the website that insists on tagging everything and I find the same pics untagged, or more pics untagged, elsewhere; I might not want to add them to the thread if there won't be a way for people to see there's new content until the OP changes the first post -- but, I see where there's some value here.

Is it possible to set the board so it sees when a later post in the thread gets a BGPS (Big Green Plus Sign) and adds that to the subject line on the Forum page?

 

I have already tried it, and WhereEverUGo too, the green plus doesn't appear in the main forum view. But I already know that. The icon is like the title, we can't edit it afterwards, we have only a few minutes to do it.
