Are all the people complaining here about an album release party also complaining when hot stars show up to their movie premieres?

    She looks great.

Shit, you don't even have to like her music, but to claim she has not actual talent is just hating.

Oh ok, I guess that confirms it. :D

You're silly when you're trying to claim that Beyonce is lazy and doesn't deserve her success. I don't really follow what she does, but I'm pretty damn sure most people would be absolutely exhausted in her shoes. And she's been doing this non-stop since she was a kid. I'd even wager she works much harder than the average person or musician.

You make it sound like every unknown band is the bastion of artistic integrity and hard work, we all know that's usually hardly the case. Yeah, Beyonce is commercial, but at least she's talented, she works hard, and from what I've seen tries to be a decent person. And I'm saying this as someone who doesn't consider himself a 'fan' by any means. You really expect her to hide herself because some random guy on the internet doesn't like her being so famous? It's just promotion for an album, it's to be expected.

Using a pop single as an example? She has plenty of traditional R&B in her catalog. 'Love on Top' is a good example.

This album was not publicized. She released it on iTunes online at midnight. She didn't do any interviews, performances, preview a first single, album cover, etc.

That's a lyric from the interlude opener of Partition. Its actually a good song.

Isn't "good" an opinion? What's considered "good" music to one might not be good to another person. But of course, Taylor Swift and Pitbull don't play their own instruments as Led Z and Queen did so it's not really comparable.

well i believe taylor does play guitar. at least. pitbull, im still trying to figure out what he does/is.

but this is partially my point. "musicians" play instruments". even if you consider the voice an instrument, you still cant write music with just your voice. which is why jlo is a bit of a joke. lol

I think you're underestimating how many lazy and unambitious people there are in the world, a lot of people do little more than the minimum to get by. A lot of people are just that....average. I also think you're underselling how hard singing and dancing can be, especially if you do it at such a high-profile and high quality level.

That's not what I said. You're bending my words to fit your argument. This was about whether she was lazy or not, obviously she has a life a lot of people would find enviable, but a lot of people would also be never to put in all the hours and effort she did. Goes for a lot of the arts, people just see the results and they want the same thing, but they'd never be willing to put in all the work, which they usually vastly underestimate. Same way people think people that draw and paint for a living 'have it easy', you do anything at a high-level and for a living you're going to have to sacrifice a lot.

Not sure if I agree with that, but I guess there could be an argument for that.

She wasn't a mega pop-star from the moment she came out of her belly. I had to check wiki, but it said her father was a sales manager and her mother was a salon owner, that's no more than middle-class. And obviously a succesful talented person is going to try to keep that way, are we really going to blame her for that? It would be straight up inane to just try to sneak a new album in through the backdoor.

Hahahaha! It's amusing...you have about as much respect for the working class (the millions of people who make the world you know a reality) as I have for this woman.

Anyways, it would not be to your advantage to extend this conversation to how most people in the world survive. Because approximately half the people in world still farm for a living. By western standards over 3/4 of the world be in poverty. These people don't have the convenience of being "lazy" because they would drop dead.

First you'd need to define what work is for a pop musician. I think I've done a fairly successful job of impressing upon you the fact that I don't really consider singing and dancing to be work. Because for 99% of the people in the world, singing and dancing is what they do for entertainment. Anyone who has the luxury of doing that for a living, should sooner qualify for unemployment than full-time work benefits.

So then, honestly, how much time does she spend "working" in a year?

Because, unless she works more than 1,790 hours a year (~34 hours a week), she'd be working less than the average American worker.

I'm not blaming her for being successful. I have no prejudice against successful people. xD

What I was trying to say was it would be more difficult for you to release a successful album, then it would for Beyonce. This is kind of obvious. In fact, it would require MUCH more work for you release even a modestly successful album by your standards, whereas if Beyonce...I don't know...decided to shift her musical genre to atmospheric black metal in her next album, she'd still be guaranteed a profit because even the cave dwelling sheep herders of Afghanistan have heard of Beyonce.
