The NEW 2001pm - Phun Random Chat Thread!

There was a story in the news here last month about a man from Seattle who retired to Phoenix so he could be closer to his son. The man was here all of one week when he was bit by a mosquito and infected with West Nile virus. He's still in a coma. How fucked up is that? I want nothing to do with mosquitoes.

I know. Fortunately there's no stagnant water in the area they can use as a breeding ground. I haven't even seen a skeeter. We did have those jumbo sized skeeter looking things earlier in the year, but they don't feed on blood. I think they eat other insects.

I know, it's heartbreaking. A lot of people in the community came forward to help any way they could. Apparently, and a bit ironically, there's a specialist in Seattle the family wanted him to be treated by, but the expense of flying a patient such a long distance is like $30,000 dollars, which they could never hope to raise, so a medical flight service in Scottsdale stepped up and agreed to fly the man to Seattle for free.
