Congrats AFX.

My theme so: if you want to use a rapper feel free. I didn't want to say just rap and have it exclude any hip-hop singers, that's why I did it the other way around.

And no they don't have to be contemporary.

Man that sucks! All that work..... I think it's good for contestants to be able to see some of the preceding winners in one place, how about just using the original link provided by each winner? If they expire they expire, rehosting them elsewhere won't make that any less likely so it would save on effort.

 

The originals take up too much space for the post to be easily editable after a while, that's why I went with thumbs. The Idea Cold had with a larger combined thingy is an option for the older ones 2010/2011/2012 and I'll just use a old stable & reliable host like imagebam or imagevenue for the recent ones.

Congrats Cold. I really like the way you framed the animated part.

 

I did put the animation in the center and in another layer i painted over it in same color as the other pics background. Next i took an eraser in the shape of a couple different clouds to remove the solid color till i was happy with it.

TheOne or any of the mods, six votes went to waste this time, if there's a voting snafu in the future can the relevant votes not be removed so that those voters can pick again? This can be done in vBulletin for blind polls, but I don't know if it works for public polls.

And guys, given what happened this week I think we need to have a discussion about the use of artwork in sigs.

Yes I know, but if the poll can be revised it takes less than a minute to do, and it would mean people could pick again the same way they did initially.

Given how difficult it is to get people to post comments in the SOTW threads to begin with it's a bit much to ask them to post with their new selection :2cent:

Now, about the use of other people's artwork... it's got to relate to the rule that says the sig must be all your own work. There's grey area here obviously since obviously 99.99% of the time nobody takes the photo themselves, but people know the photos are commercial.

I'm thinking particularly of the situations where people don't realise that the style of the entry comes from an original illustration.

We've already had at least one winner of a SOTW where that was the case, anybody else notice that?

 

if it is possible to free just one option and not having to restart the whole poll then it would be an awesome tool.. also I'd like to have an option to add to the poll after it's made (for the times I fuck up)

over the years there must have been hundreds of sigs that contained the original style, either copied, blended in or just "there". but if it should be required for the work to be all yours then there wouldn't be any point in having this contest anymore as there would possible be just 1 entry every 2 or 3 weeks, so we have to have a lot of give in what's allowed and the rules will have to be stretched to the limit for this to continue.

the next rule in line says

I would say that the highlighted parts says that if the image is edited then is becomes an original piece.. more or less anyway.

Question though shall we have a limit on just how much editing is necessary, and who's gonna check it. should it be a requirement to send in a copy of the image(s) that were used while creating the sig along with the sig itself.

and.. I have just spent some time searching.. as far as I know there are only the option for mods to change the actual numbers on a poll, not free any voters or what they voted for. however there seems like there is a hack or such that allows voters to change their votes (if the poll creator allows for it to be run) not sure though if it stops to work when poll close or what.
