not necessarily. I'd like to see yours with the correct animation and some depth on the text then choose between them. helium's has an odd lag in his animation as well. Or maybe it's just the effects timing. Still be phun to compare them

 

trying to not be a bummer here, but maybe we shouldn't allow for animated ones and non animated ones in the same rounds...

 

lol, as a animation-tard (just cant get animation to work, even with my "animation for complete and utter morons" right in front of me) it says "sigs"; just because some are better than others doesnt mean they should be penalized or held back with us that just suck at it. We all have strengths and weaknesses. I can do multi-layer light sourcing with gradient masks with ease but not animation. AFX is just the opposite. He says lighting isnt his strong suit but animation is easy.

If the voters choose motion over lighting that's just the way life is.

I agree with your point except I certainly don't find animation easy in the same way it appears the likes of Helium and Lukin do. I'm too lazy when it comes to developing graphic design skills. For instance, I built myself a new computer nearly five months ago but I still haven't installed the copy of After Effects I have on CD. All my recent animated stuff has been done on Photoshop, which has its limitations.

On the subject of animated sigs, I feel they should be allowed myself. I don't think that just because an entry is animated it holds an advantage over its competitors. There have been gifs that have lost before and I'm sure there will be again. Also, none of the members that make animations do them every week, myself included. If I choose to submit an animation it's always on the basis of the weeks theme, and an idea that's popped into my head.

 

hmmm.. i don's see any lag... the anim is made in 25 fps and i used all frames in the gif...

 

maybe it's a style thing then. what I see is

closed eyes
opening eyes
open eyes
orange glow eyes
fire swirly effect moving outward from normal colored eyes
about 1 second pause with just a bit of fire outside at each end, then it snaps and resets to closed eyes

As soon as I read the next theme was eyes I assumed there'd be one with an animated blink, and I thought it likely it would sweep the votes. And why not, frankly an animation is more special than a static image.

This particular sig didnt scale well at all. Not sure why, but the 1100x320 looks a whole lot better.

 

If there is a possibility of substituting the image with Angelina Jolie's I will be most pleased to take it of your hands

 

Sure, I dont see a problem. I just snagged a pic Cold posted in the imgphun test thread and stuck a girl and some light in it. I'll see what Jolie pics I find to go in there reasonably. Or you can post the pic you want in there.
