Just winding down for the night. Spent several hours tonight texting and emailing with a couple of my sisters about my parent's needs for the future and how to go about addressing them.

 

BTW, not your fault at all. I mean, who goes to porn sites at their work place has to expect titties.

How do you go about approaching your parents about it? I know I couldn't ever talk to my mom about her future needs and beyond - she really superstitious about that stuff. :|

My folks are really open minded about things. They're well aware they have aging issues that need to be addressed and are willing participants in the discussion. The plan going forward is for me and my oldest sister to get a house somewhere (location still undetermined) and move my folks in with us so we can act as caregivers until the time comes when they'll require more special attention than we're qualified to give. The thing is, even though they are 90 they are really in exceptional health. My dad's mind is kind of going south and my mom has clotting issues with her blood but it's quite possible they could live to be close to 100. We want to make their remaining time as happy as possible.

 

That sounds like a very reasonable plan, plus I think it's great that you and your sister want to take over the roles as caregivers. I would do the same. I would never want my parents to feel left alone.

 

I'd like to see a cat do that.

 

The very idea of my parents being isolated depresses me beyond words. They've been so good to me. I owe them everything and will happily make any sacrifice. Besides, I got nothing better to do.
