I've no doubt. I was talking to a Pashtun man visiting here from Toronto the other day and he had some interesting things to say about India as well. You would've liked him.

 

What happens in schools and colleges : The teacher is for 5 states away....and comes here for employment.....but still speaks the language from over there....he tries to learn English....but doesn't succeed......so teaches in a pattern of alternate languages....one word in his native language the next in English......the students....themselves each having a different native language and a very poor grasp on English.........understand only every ninth spoken word.....how this system works......well when it comes time for exams.....nobody understands anything.....but nobody can admit they understand nothing.....so everybody does well.

Backyard hell, I'm pretty much in the same building at the moment. If I could walk a straight line to the arena it's probably about 200 feet away.

Oh, we were talking about the absurdities of regional politics in Kashmir, about how Sikhs are confused with Arabs; about some 500 year cycle of destruction and renewal that Sikhs believe in; about the Mayan calendar; about the destruction of North America if the Yellowstone Caldera were to explode; about current housing prices in Las Vegas; about how big of a shithole Los Angeles is; about ancient aliens who were thought to be gods by ancient cultures.... You know, the usual stuff two complete strangers start talking about while standing next to an ashcan while smoking cigarettes and having a cocktail.

Seriously, I'm standing there looking at a game on TV and he asks me if I live here. I say yes and he then asks about housing prices in Las Vegas. From there the conversation just sort of meandered here and there. We talked for a good 15 minutes before parting ways.

Happens to me all the time.
