vbulletin - update - in the making, hopefully.

I really dont like this default skin ugghhh soo ugly.....Waiting for more skins to choose from.

 

i like more the old layout of the forum...how can i do a proper search ? bit confused :S

 

The search function is undoubtedly the more important of the two items but your seeming dismissal of the thanks button is unwarranted, it seems the majority want it back so attacking those who mention it is just not productive.

 

the old skin is batter then new. and searching forum is disable , some repost can be hit. some post could be delayed .many problems are there just because of changing. but we are still there with our forum. THE PHUN Rocks

 

yeah the search is the only thing that causes concern, seems that maybe the search only brings up things that have been posted since the change to vbulletin? I'm not sure

Screw the thanks button. It generated mindless competition over recognition.

I think they should take it one more step and remove the post counts ticker as well.

Otherwise, I agree, this format is not as appealing to the eyes. But those two improvements make it worthwhile.

this is VBulletin as it comes by default. it took a while to tweak the former version and we are going to tweak this one step by step. we just need to focus on the basics - right now it`s the database-consistency and the related search-function. you may have noticed when you check for threads you have started, for example, that many threads are not listed.

next will be "design" - Cayne has preferences, some kind of "corporate identity" with the frontpage. i`d be cautious with creating new sigs - Phun`s background-color isn`t determined ....

this is certainly a process - and i`m sure there are quite a few chances for phunners´ input.

2nd IMHO some forum section should be closed while this software upgrade period, coz they looks like 'spammer paradise' right now

 

can we have some forum skin options, as this current colour is quite pale and unappealing? thanks.

Since this is temporary, I'm not going to make comments about the new format. But just for the records, the only thing I care is the 'Thanks' button.

 

I know this is probably not possible, but one feature i always wanted to see the board implement was a way, when looking at the listings of a particular forum, to have icons/a legend that tell you both if you have posted in a thread [we have this], and if you have thanked a post in the thread. I dont post in every thread, but i do thank every single thread i open up.... so many times i will open a thread at the top of the forum listings, only to see that i thanked it 2+ weeks ago, and is at the top of the forum again because someone bumped it with a random comment. Really, that is no more than a waste of 15 seconds, but i always would have liked to see that available just for convenience. Just my minor 2 cents.

Changes? I don't like changes, i'm too old for all that new nonsense.
I'm using Win 3.11, a Pentiun 133 and a 9" monochrome display .. and i'm happy with my Ford Model-T.

Good things come to those who wait gentlemen. In the coming days, and as the update is implemented, we'll get things squared away, the thanks button included. As has been mentioned already, that was, and is an add-on feature and not a v-bulletin default option. For the time being, we're focused on getting the board as a whole, and the search function in particular back to where it needs to be.
