When I sad cornflakes I just meant any breakfast cereal.....we just call them cornflakes.


Same with tea really.....there are only about 7 flavors available to us......compared to the 83 odd flavors available in Europe..............it is a new market but Indians aren't too keen on western goods.....there will be only a small percentage wanting to buy that...most just want basic regular things they have been used to.
There are tons of stores here that hold all kinds of imported goods.....but at a large large pirce.

 

The wanted to, or so I heard but TATA (one of the major companies here) didn't allow them.

 

Most western goods are made in China and Indonedsia nowdays, but they can counterfeit anything from anywhere to cater to any market. And cheaply too. It's the basis of Walmart's success.

 

They'll be back.

Walmart cannot be denied for long. They're not afraid of the competition. They don't show pity. They don't feel remorse. They will keep trying and trying to crack a market until they succeed. And then you will have Falling Prices.

 

I'm talking here of food products.

 

Walmart sells food too. Their Supercenters are truly a spectacle to behold.

Walmart gets their food from wherever and they seel it at a reasonable cost. They gouge you on anything. They have plenty of products that are loss-leaders to offset the price of more expensive items. That way, every product is affordable.

 

David Crosby is on ludes, Graham Nash is probably speeding and Stephen Stills actually looks sober.

Right. What they do is sell cheap products at a loss or break even price so they can sell expensive products at a cut rate price but still make money.

On a product like toilet paper for example, they charge just above their cost because they know they're gonna sell truckloads of tp and it's gonna pay for itself. That way on more expensive items like wine or fresh fruit or beef or what have you, they can charge less and still make a profit.

It's a numbers game. Walmart doesn't want to sell 30 or 40 thousand of this and that, they want to sell 30 or 40 million of this and that, and so they make it affordalble to everyone to achieve that goal.

 

I know, I was just making a sarcastic remark.
