i thought they made chemicals for that. but your right she said its a lot of work all summer and she said one bad rain or dry to long and you get half the yield an barely cover the loans.

Faming is horrible....there are a lot of things that can go wrong....weather, bugs, bad soil, birds.....and it is a lot of hard work....and if you have animals it's double.


I like to hold on to the romanticized idea of it though.

 

I like eggs, but the ones I eat are probably at least 24 hours old.

i see that, there is that thought of the farmer walking out to the barn in the breaking morning sun, everything in order, all is well.
but in reality he is heading to see if he can find anything more to use a collateral becouse he tractor just blew another hydrolic line and is sitting half a mile from the house with 7500 gallons of patrolium based insecticide in a pull behind sprayer.

Animal husbandry is even worse. Don't want to get into it.

I have, many times. Although they were probably just warm cuz the hen was sitting on them. I had no idea when they were actually laid. (overnight is my best guess)
