i read this whenever i get the need to remember why i do things the way i do.
i read it when i was about 25 or could be later. i read it about 10 times realizing each time i read it that my life was going to forever change becouse of it.
living my life this way has been the force behind a lot of bad and a lot of good. but it has never resulted in anything not worth having.

    by Hunter S. Thompson (1955).

Security ... what does this word mean in relation to life as we know it today? For the most part, it means safety and freedom from worry. It is said to be the end that all men strive for; but is security a utopian goal or is it another word for rut?

Let us visualize the secure man; and by this term, I mean a man who has settled for financial and personal security for his goal in life. In general, he is a man who has pushed ambition and initiative aside and settled down, so to speak, in a boring, but safe and comfortable rut for the rest of his life. His future is but an extension of his present, and he accepts it as such with a complacent shrug of his shoulders. His ideas and ideals are those of society in general and he is accepted as a respectable, but average and prosaic man. But is he a man? has he any self-respect or pride in himself? How could he, when he has risked nothing and gained nothing? What does he think when he sees his youthful dreams of adventure, accomplishment, travel and romance buried under the cloak of conformity? How does he feel when he realizes that he has barely tasted the meal of life; when he sees the prison he has made for himself in pursuit of the almighty dollar? If he thinks this is all well and good, fine, but think of the tragedy of a man who has sacrificed his freedom on the altar of security, and wishes he could turn back the hands of time. A man is to be pitied who lacked the courage to accept the challenge of freedom and depart from the cushion of security and see life as it is instead of living it second-hand. Life has by-passed this man and he has watched from a secure place, afraid to seek anything better What has he done except to sit and wait for the tomorrow which never comes?

Turn back the pages of history and see the men who have shaped the destiny of the world. Security was never theirs, but they lived rather than existed. Where would the world be if all men had sought security and not taken risks or gambled with their lives on the chance that, if they won, life would be different and richer? It is from the bystanders (who are in the vast majority) that we receive the propaganda that life is not worth living, that life is drudgery, that the ambitions of youth must he laid aside for a life which is but a painful wait for death. These are the ones who squeeze what excitement they can from life out of the imaginations and experiences of others through books and movies. These are the insignificant and forgotten men who preach conformity because it is all they know. These are the men who dream at night of what could have been, but who wake at dawn to take their places at the now-familiar rut and to merely exist through another day. For them, the romance of life is long dead and they are forced to go through the years on a treadmill, cursing their existence, yet afraid to die because of the unknown which faces them after death. They lacked the only true courage: the kind which enables men to face the unknown regardless of the consequences.

As an afterthought, it seems hardly proper to write of life without once mentioning happiness; so we shall let the reader answer this question for himself: who is the happier man, he who has braved the storm of life and lived or he who has stayed securely on shore and merely existed?

actually im going to do it on porn.
see ive noticed a dreadful trend, even here, in titles and sites to promote, teens, youngest teens, in some cases sites have girls that look 12 or 13 wearing braces all to feed the pedophile. trying to get the pervert.
i dont mind an attractive girl, but why say young teen, or even teen, hell half of them are like 30, its all in hopes to teas the viewer, " i have here illeagle underage porn for you, shhhh dont tell anybody" kind of bullshit.

i do not like it one bit, i find the entire sell nothing more than teasing the pedophiles.
im just having a bit of an issue on exactly how to word it cause i really dont want it to go unnoticed.

does any of this make sense.

I saw this thread title in celebs today. Bridgit Mendler (Disney) : Tight-Ass Jeans : 'Good Luck Charlie' S1e23 720p caps : x20

WTF is the point of putting Disney in your title other than to let everyone know it's a youngin? Odd.

I'm on a PC at the moment, but I could've done it on my phone too. I have what's called Opera Mini for a web browser and it's surprisingly versatile in some respects.
I understand your argument but I can't get fired up about it. Men who get turned on by slutty teens aren't pedophiles, they are pederasts. Big difference (though still kind of sick). What really started the trend [I believe] is bald pussy, and that really started showing up first in Playboy Magazine, of all places. Now bald pussy, braces and pig tails are the hallmarks of hot teen sluts everywhere you go on the internet (well, everywhere I go at any rate ;)).

But go ahead and run with it. It will be interesting to see the response.

    exactly my point spider.

and i agree that its not a good argument scribe, i cant see a way to make it in issue without attacking the hypocritical manner of this board, here is my point, if i put very young teen in a thread title, i get 100 thanks for it, especially if its a very young looking teen. but if i put 14 year old,
    im banned.
its is dumb. the board has tongue in cheek rules about it. as long as you dont say the age, post what you want. i know a performer from the 70's that made a ton a movies, she was over 18 but she always played parts as an adolescent experimenting teen, one board i was on banned those vids and another let them slide, the argument on the banned board was simple, we dont allow underage porn, not even the depiction of it.
the entire thing is hypocritical and its not just here its all over.
my argument is make them change it, do not permit the teen, young, whatever in the titles.
it shows a senses of responsibility.

In regards to remodeling this fucking maze Jack has us trapped in....

Me: Hey Joe, how's the assessment coming along?

Joe: Just fine Mr. Scribbs. An unusual labyrinth you have here.

Me: Can't argue with that, ha ha. Having any trouble finding your way around?

Joe: Nah, got that covered. We've been planting GPS markers as we go. Instant mapping.

[Joe holds up a Garvin GPS tracking device and shows me the display, upon which is the incomplete map of the maze. Remarkably there are no right angles. All the lanes and cul-de-sacs are sinuous and curvilinear. Nevertheless the overall if incomplete impression reminds me of.... but no, that's not possible. Is it?]

Me: Cool. I'm curious to see the end result. There's dead ends in here that even I haven't come upon yet.

    Joe: Yeah, about that -

[Joe's thought is interrupted when his two-way radio handset crackles to life and a tinny voice says: Shit, what are these spongey blocks?<pause> Jesus Christ! It's fucking tofu! I bet there's half a ton of it too!
A second voice responds <laughing>: Dude! You hit the mother lode!
    First voice <disappointed>: As if.]

Me <changing the subject>: ahem Well, a color change will be nice, don't you think?

Joe <distracted>: What? Oh yeah. This grayish-pinkish color is very peculiar. Don't ever think I've seen the likes of it before.

Me: I hear ya. Probably pretty familiar to a neurosurgeon though. Ha ha.

Joe: Umm... Right. Well, whoever created this place has an unusual imagination.

Me: You don't know the half of it. He's a... um... Well he's.... Let me put it this way: He has a monkey butler.

    Joe: I see. :33:

Me: No. No, I don't think you do.

[Again Joe's radio crackles to life. First voice: Oh my god! What is that fucking smell? <long pause> Holy shit! It's crates of rotting cabbage! Gross!
Second voice <cackling>: Dude! You have all the luck!
First voice: Fuck you man. You can have it!]

    Me:

Joe <in a tone of distaste>: Came across some of that myself earlier. We can have that hauled off but it will cost you extra.

    Me: Naturally. Please do though.

    Joe: Yeah, about payment...

Me: It's not a problem, the general fund will provide. We're not exactly spare-no-expense like the Igloo Lodge they're building, but we've got resources. Payment's not an issue.

Joe: Is to me... Well if you say so Mr. Scribbs. I got a guy lined up for waste and trash disposal anyway. Goes with the territory.

Me <mumbling>: Might need to call in a stock herder too I suspect.

    Joe: Say what?

Me: Huh? Oh, nothing. Just thinking out loud... Say did you check out the possibilities for getting this rat trap wired for electrical lighting yet? These candle sconces just don't cut it.

Joe <thoughtful>: About that: We removed a couple of wall panels to check out the structural construct and to our surprise we discovered the place is wired already. 220 volt in fact, fed off a 440 trunk line. The 220 conduits have the additional feature of wire probes plugged directly into the wall panels, which on closer inspection appear to be embedded with copper filament through and through. It's as if someone had thought of wiring the walls with electroshock in mind. It's crazy!

    Me:

Joe <quickly>: Thing is, the system isn't live. I guess that's good, right?

Me: Yes... Yes. That is a good thing... Bring in an electrician to learn all he can about the setup. I want details. I also want it permanently disabled. Thanks for your time Joe, I'll let you get back to it. There's someone I need to have a word with.....

Of course they're bonded and insured. Very reputable. I've used them before with highly satisfying results.

And don't worry. The cost of the remodel is being paid for by the General Fund. You'll never have to cough up a dime.
