Reporting Phishers suggestion

Hey Mods,

Just a suggestion, since there will always be phishers and since the whole idea of a Holding Pen won't be realized quite yet (yes, just a friendly re-suggestion ).

So, if we see a phishing post, if a Phun remember reports it (using the Report post button), is there anyway the reported post could be marked as "Warning, post reported"? That way, users could be warned about possible dangerous posts that are still on the board until a mod gets to removing it.

Just a suggestion - admittedly, it's getting a little tiring copying and pasting "warning replies" to phisher posts.

 

pushing that button will send an e-mail to all mods. downside: it´s not granted that this e-mail will be send each time. that´s why we have this forum-issue-thread.

Back to the topic at hand - can we add this "warning" functionality when we report a thread using the "report post" button?

 

I haven't seen any way to do this with vbulletin.

Not sure what you mean by a Holding Pen.

 

Righto, Skin... was hoping vB had some flexibility.

Holding Pen was an idea that has been bantered back and forth when the initial wave of annoying spammers came to Phun when Hotfile and Sharingmatrix/FileSonic were allowed. Basically, new section at Phun for only new Phun members.

 

I wish they did too.

Got you, the problem I see with that is that really doesn't prevent them from doing it. They've also on many occasions hacked the accounts of members with higher post counts to get around some of our preventive measures. I think the flagged post idea would be a better way to go but like I said I haven't seen anything like that around that we can implement.

Oh, and actually the Holding Pen idea was originally intended to minimize the repost spamming - it would've also prevented phishers, but hell if they're hacking actual member accounts... well, that's just a plain outrage.
