What exactly were the controversial pics? I only vaguely heard about the story.

 

she did a Pole Dancing exhibition, but as she explained in the vid it was more the "pole dancing for exercise", but was taken out of context.

hardly controv... before becoming Miss Michigan, she participated in a "pole dancing" stripper contest for some radio station... she didn't strip, but just danced quite "vividly" on a makeshift stripper pole. Quite tame for this generation.

Seems a bit of a fuss about nothing really, a bit like Nipplegate. I presume it's because Miss America is supposed to have a squeaky clean image right? A lot of the miss Great Britain contestants have been strippers and even page 3 girls in the past.

 

btw, you guys fans of Family Guy?

Isn't it just a little odd how the quality of their episodes can range from great to crappy? I'm specifically pointing out the latest episodes 18 (Quagmire's Dad: great) and 19 (The Splendid Source: crap). just really random to me.

 

Yeah, that's the perception though it has been "tarnished" by Miss America's having hidden sextapes and nude photographs (all the way back to Vanessa Williams). The whole nature of "Miss America" is prudish in generally tho.

I agree 100%...I love FG but they have a lot of episodes that just stink :?

 

Agreed. I do think it's very difficult keeping any comedy consistently great though, particularly an animation which is a painstaking process to complete just one episode. I find it's the same with Southpark and The Simpsons too.

 

Note: Miss America and Miss USA are two different competitions. Miss USA is the sexier of the two. Miss America is the "wholesome" one.

Oh of course... but it just seems REALLY inconsistent with Family Guy.

I'm not expecting greatness in each episode, so long as there is a consistency of solid "funny" in each episode. Family Guy really swings from crap to great. Southpark is a little better, tho sometimes it gets a bit too preachy in it's messaging.

For about 2-3 years, The Simpsons displayed that quality, particularly season 3-6. One of my favs from that period:

I've barely watched any of the Simpsons the last few years. Used to be my favorite show on TV, but it is rarely funny anymore
