    Nifty background and a very good first piece :tup:
    1. you need a border, even if it's just 1 px wide to give it a finished feel.
    2. unless you show that you have more than 1 light source specifically, try to keep the light coming from one direction
    3. on fonts like that, you're absolutely right, a gradient can make all the difference. It's a metal 3-d font, so make it metal and 3-d
    4. composition wise it takes a lot of practice. In this piece i find myself more drawn to the background than to your subjects. If it were mine, I'd dump the girls altogether, make the txt metallic 3-d, and turn the background into a fade out borderless oval, like a vortex of color.

    I really wanted to try a bit of everything with my first go, so I added Michelle more for a chance to practice rendering than for any artistic reason.
    I'll try metallic 3d text next time, or possibly some calligraphy, we'll see.
