I do all my sigs @ 900X262 98X99dpi for scaling purposes .When the art is done I scale it to 550X160 then add txt, so I dont have font scaling jaggies. I hate working small.

 

I like working small, it gives me more flexibility with image sizes and that way I know immediately if it'll look good in the small size or not.

Have you tried working with channel lighting yet?

 

Don't even know what it is bro, I just use brushes to light my sigs by hand.

Soft black brushes for darkness, and light gray set to Linear Dodge for light sources.

 

She's just coming out on my recording, and YES SIR she looks great!

Ah, well, you're doing EXTREMELY well, if you're getting those results with brush work. But why? PS has fabulous lighting tools!

Channel lighting is when you turn on or off different channels (r-g-b-alpha) so you can segregate your light by colors. think of it as being able to aim a prism for lighting your layers. That's a lot of how I did my beach pic, by channel editting.

 

Ah, who needs them!? I just like having 100% control of where I'm putting my lighting effects.

The only actually 'tool' I'll use is the dodge tool if I need to highlight a few areas after the fact.
