We have a little saved up, but it will go quickly. My house taxes are %500 a month, for example. I have a condo I am holding that costs me $350 a month that I could sell, but right now I would most likely lose money on it, but at least the monthly obligation would be eliminated. Mostly, I don't know how I will be able to send my kid $3k a month!

 

Do you have an educated guess as to whether enough people will take the incentive?

 

No, and I am not very hopeful that will happen as they (the City) did that last year and 12 employees took advantage of it. So I think most of the one that would consider it have already don so...I don't know how in the world they, meaning my department, can do without me as who will assume the responsibility of managing my current 16 projects (about 30 million in total cost). All of the other project managers have fewer projects and they can keep up. Of course, if I am gone I won't give a flying fuck about that!

You are Gov tho, right? You can force them to give you early retirement as a civil service employee (at least you can here in Mo) if they cut your position.

My retirement would be the equivalent of a $60k cut in annual income - that the rub. again, if this were to happen in two year, I would be much better off! No kid supplement and SS income.

 

Money can be shifted around. I wouldn't count yourself out yet!

I have not given up hope.....but I will be taking no vacation time. If I can work thru August, I will have a $15k vacation check to help out. But enough on this....on to more happy things!

 

You think the plan is to cut you and bring in a couple kids to babysit your position @ 1/4 the cost each? They get new blood @ 1/2 the total price. That's an old story. They would have let you run it out, but with cash flow low they're cutting you short?
