I was pretty good with i.263 and very good with the old SMR codec, but these days? not so much.

 

I was always images, not really clips, except for ripping movies a posting them on irc lol.

 

well, acquired a couple of WMV porn clips, both of them unseekable. So, I tried to convert both of them to AVI formats (I prefer AVIs anyways), but for some reason, that shortened both the clips (one by 20 seconds, the other nearly in half). Then tried to reindex both WMVs using the asfbin repair tool... the made them both seekable but AGAIN, it shortened both WMV clips for some reason. Any idea why this is happening?

Did you use WMV to convert, or another piece of software?

 

spiderswims also knows some video. He may stop by in a few minutes.

 

I used both Any Video Converter Pro and Ultra Video Joiner.. both with the same results. I've used AVCP a lot in the past and have had no problems till now.

didn't realize you can use WMV to convert... I use Media Classic Player to play videos anyways.

 

If they're porn clips they've probably been jacked with so many times ont even ILM could unfuck them.

 

When you say the clip was shortened, did some of it get chopped off? Sped up? How was is shortened?

Chopped off... basically:

WMV clip1: original length was 32:50... after conversion it dropped to 32:21

WMV clip2: original length was 6:13... after conversion, it dropped to 3:11

FYI, both clips I got from the website source.

 

I'm thinking they began as something else, and during the site's conversion to WMV for you to d/l, the vid was on its last legs. Did you open each vid from within WMV to check them (file>open) or double-click them to open them first, or did you go immediately to the conversion process?

Nah, I opened them (file>open) with Media Classic Player first... noticed both were unseekable, then tried to file convert to fix the problem. When that failed, tried to reindex the WMV files. That's the weird thing; whether converting to a new format or just reindexing the WMV file, both came out with the same results.

I would complain to the website, but...well... I procured them in the usual "sneaky" fashion. :ninja:

 

Try VLC it'll play anything and you can usually seek the unseekable.

Yeah, I tried that as well and that worked to a certain point - basically, if I seek more than halfway with the clip, VLC would stop playing the video.

It's awfully confounding :|

 

Is it worth messing with?
