They have somethings that are good. These little potato things are pretty taste. Especially dipped in cheese sauce.

 

I have had a lot of Airport Emergencies. Everything from unsafe landing gear indication, wheel well fire indication light, engine fire indication, unruly passenger trying to open the door at 30,000 feet (before 9/11), smoke in the cabin to undeclared dangerous goods reaction in air.

The worst one was probably the wheel well fire indication light. That’s a scary one. Once you get a fire indication they hit a button that blows every fire extinguisher on board. They were 20 minutes out, it was a calm day, humid. I gathered our heads of Emergency Response Team, told them I’m leading everyone on the runway, follow me once the plane came to a stop. I asked the Captain how many passengers there was, total crew, any dangerous goods on board, amount of fuel on board and ETA. They asked us to check for fire when they were on final approach. So they were about a mile back, trying to see if there was any smoke, couldn’t tell, they got about ½ mile away and there was smoke coming from the plane! We passed that information, my heart started pounding. Plane was about a ¼ mile back and we looked in binoculars, it was smoke from both wingtips! It was so humid it was just the contrail from the plane.

So the plane landed and it was very windy, I started racing down the runway and looked behind me and there was everyone following me. It was so windy the emergency chute from the washroom was straight up in the air blowing like hell! So I parked 50 feet away from the plane, everyone was running down the steps, I started running past the people yelling for them to get away, I didn’t have to ask twice. I thought, lucky people, running in the proper direction. I got to the last person and it was the flight attendant, she said “who the hell are you” I said I’m the Airport Manager get these people out of her!

Started running to the plane, I prayed “please don’t blow up” I met the Captain and First Officer at the bottom of the stairs, I asked them which wheel well? They shouted left side, we ran to the plane, no smoke no fire”

Oh man. That was a fucked up day. Took me 11 hours to get it off my runway. That’s a story for another time.
