    I despise them. Over here, with all our employment laws and regulations, they're fucking pointless. Workers are protected enough.

    They were eviscerated in the 80's, a necessary evil, and it was only after their pet fucking Labour Party were elected did they start flexing their muscles again. Labour, being the spineless cocks they are, buckled at every turn.

    Now, the unions are scrambling to squeeze whatever they possibly can from Labour because they know when the Conservatives win the next election, they'll be shit out of luck.

    Yeah, the unions are slowly destroying everything here in the States. It's the reason the US manufacturing industry is in shambles. Unions had their place in the 30's and 40's (and maybe even the 50's) but they are absolutely worthless now :?

    See, whilst our quality might be better, we knew in the 80's that people would follow the money, and the money says it's cheaper to make all this and that somewhere in Asia.

    So, short-term pain in the 80's, which turned Thatcher into a hate figure which exists today, so that now, we wouldn't fall apart, desperately clinging on to something which is dieing.

    Purely economically speaking, she and the Conservatives were right to do what they did in the 80's. Doesn't mean they'll be forgiven for it.
