    I'm not sure what method you're using so I cant give you a direct answer either. I'm using an older version of PS so I have to use an adjustment layer.

    Open your photo>Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Gradient Map.

    Of course, the layers pallet must be set on B&W. I simply erase the sections of the adjustment layer that I want to show color using the eraser tool. I'll use various sizes and opacities depending on the job. If I screw up and carry over too far on an edge, I just back up a step. No coloring involved.

    You're getting better at this. If you dont mind me suggesting, try boosting your contrast on the final work to make shadings and colors stand out more.

    Something I was tinkering with today...mainly 'cause the original was so outta whack. Way too much cyan and blue. I think it's from an eighties swimsuit shoot, as I've seen smaller b/w (low-res) shots from it. I think the suit was originally red, or maybe hot pink. Dunno for sure, since this is the only color pic I have of it. If anyone has (or can point me to) the rest of this shoot in this resolution, or higher please share.
