    I was thinking about the difference 320 km makes rationally. The wild fires in Idaho in 1910. "Even though the fire raged for only two days, unbelievable damage was wrought. More than three million acres of land were burned, and over three billion feet of timber were lost."

    That's probably, given the country size difference, about the same ratio of burnt vs geographic size. And there is still talk and policies from it 100 years later.

    I think Australia's recent fires have us both put to shame though.
