Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    Hey Gang-
Although this may be a direct associate to the thread discussion of cleaning and redirecting, but it occurred to me that we could start a thread of PSD's or also called rendering. For example, I recently posted this edit:
-now there may be some that do not like the graphics I integrated into that post. But since I took the time to create the PSD of Alice Goodwin, I could just post that PSD or render on a seperate thread for others to take and do as they will.

One problem, this type of thread will promote heavy leaching. And most will take the PSD's but not add to the collection. So I ask you guys, what do you think of having a PSD thread? Worth the effort-or forget it.

Um...Photoshop documents. Basically, images or graphics removed from one source, saved in this format so that can be used into another source or purpose. Basically a layer that can be saved and used in many different format.

    ........I bet I confused you more huh??:1zhelp:

Your idea is to post every .PSD file of everythink we create or just from f.e. sigs ?
Maybe it's an idea to post the psd with the sig posting ?
A new thread also could be a good idea i dont know actually :)

Can't see why this shouldn't be allowed ... one practical issue though.

To my knowledge there's no imagehost that accepts .psd files so it would come down to using RS or megaupload or other.
Saving them as .tiff files (layer intact) could work with some imagehosts but mostly they're limited to 3-5MB
whereas most composites of reasonable size and multiple layers easily surmount that limit. ;)

There is an issue there with hosting. I was going to upload an example of a PSD to clarify understanding-but I couldn't find a host. The host Sid listed will work.

As far as what type of PSD-it doesn't really matter. Sig, edits, walls, etc.

I do believe, however, that a thread of this nature will draw in quite a crowd.

problem with *.psd is file size. Seriously, I routinely have psd or xcf in gimp, file sizes 300,400,500 megabytes each. I have 1 48"X 60" poster I did of joan severance thats OVER a gigabyte in size. Sorry, but I gotta go naynay! on the working image format. You could "save a copy" of jpg format for different layers that would work (most of the time), but be awfully clumsy. $.02

Why does the filesize matter? The link is posted here for download and you download which ones you want.

    I'll provide an example :).
    See how I made this:
    Into this:

    Here's the psd:
    Click!

Try turning all the layers off and then start at the bottom layer and turn them on one by one. Or just turn some on and off to see what they do :)

I didnt know there were psd imagehosts either. Thats very handy. Will it be added to the phun list? Mods/Admins? how long would this take to get on the approved list?

Phun usually kills most imagehosts anyways, so it will probably die before being added to the list. :p

It won't die because we are literally posting a link, not a pic, so the bandwidth is minimal. There is no need for approved psd hosts.

Great idea i think. It gives us a chance to take the elements of a piece and let another member tinker with it. The creative possibilities are superb. You could combi-work sigs and other pieces. Imagine Sid working the sig till halfway and then giving it to Nems to see how he finishes it. That would be really interesting and challenging i think. Brilliant idea.

Thanks Jamms---that's even better than what I considered. The possibilities are endless.
