So, my uncle sent me an e-mail today. I am so far left in my politics and he sent me an e-mail that endeered a transcript of Rush Limbaugh. Rush basically said that 9/11 fams shouldn't receive what they have gotten monetarily since soldiers' fams get much, much less if they pass away. I got into a big fight/debate with him saying it was a bad comparison and that I thought soldiers deserved more, but the comparison by Limbaugh was unneccesary.

I know this isn't a politics forum, but it bothers me since my uncle, like a lot of republicans, took what I said and proclaimed me an adversary of the troops. I think they deserve a high payout to fams, but I said that I think there is a difference between a voluntary job with risks known, and people dying going to work, and that that comparison is unfair.

I had to get that off my chest. That's why I love this thread.

Remember that Rush Limbaugh gets paid millions of dollars to piss people off. If he made everyone content he'd be off the air. But, Rush can be a dangerous man -- while pissing people off, he pushes it too far, and some bad arguments are the result.

he would only baby talk. I guess I was still young enough to understand him. he would just baby talk, I understood him, told my parents and he was good.

 

I thank that.

I just don't know if they are just wrong, straight up, or if other views could be right. I just feel that he/and others with him, are just so wrong. I try to listen, but I disagree constantly.

Some people are more comfortable having another guy yelling out opinions for them to embrace. Those opinions are usually based on flawed premeses, but it's so easy because you don't have to think things through and come to your own conclusion.

I met a chick at a jazz bar. We decided to go back to her place with her friend and mine. All of us were hammered. We get back to her place and she goes into her bedroom as I follow. We just went at it. When I was done, I left her room, I walked out to the living room, and I waved for my boy Alex to go. As he got up, she asked him if she could get a ride home. He looked at me. One more bit about political arguments (and arguments in general) -- and I've said this here before: My dad was a negotiator -- he argued for a living. He always said: "You can't negotiate with a post." I always think of that before entering an argument.

I think I get what you are saying, and it is why I didn't want to start the argument with my uncle. I do not believe in bipartisonship. You can't change minds. And I think you can expand that to personal relationships. I like obama but feel that that is his flaw and I believe he has realized it. The differences are very cut and dry now. More than even 50 years ago. It is a dirty fight now which I hate. I would applaud the relationship that, I feel, Obama actually would want.
