Sig of the Week SOTW ???

sounds good bio. do you not think it should be one week per comp done and dusted? what i mean is, if it runs from say fri to fri, then have all entrants in by tues, all voting done by thurs, the winner is announced, then new comp on friday.
also, how is the voting gonna be done? will it be by poll?

 

I'd like voting by replying. I could post my opinion on why I vote for a certain sig then, like: great blending of the text, nice flow, more creative then the others, whatever

I'll just count all the votes by hand.

I agree with jamms 100%. I do not believe there should be in any way shape or form of a contest with sigmaking. I have said this before. I will not take part either.

 

Jamms' point was to showcase sigs. Same reason I started another sig thread.

The contest thing is I think a very bad idea.

If someone wanted to collect all the sigs made between both sig threads that were made in a span of a week, and then post them ALL together, that would be cool.

 

I liked Jamms idea more but at the same time I don't see what's so bad about Biomoids.

The point is: Its not a fuckin contest, and it NEVER will be. Its all about the effort.

I started the sotw thread, people who do like a little competition can enter. If you don't like the competition aspect then just showcase your work in one of the sigthreads, Imho there's nothing wrong with a little competition.

I do think it'd be nice if the usual sigmakers vote for their favorite sig tho, even if you didn't enter.

I agree with jamms and toolz sigmaking should be for fun/learning and not competing against each other to see who can make the best sig.

I won't be participating either.

Anyways anything that causes any tention should perhaps be avoided.

 

the sig battle will be good, because there will be constructive critisisim. as well as topics in which to create a sig. it will be interesting to see different peoples takes on a certain theme and it will inspire.

and toolz, no one will be entering your sigs. it is peoples own work.

 

there should be no tension. people are getting worked up about something that doesn't concern them. they have said that they aren't gonna enter, so they should leave it at that. there are people here who want this, and it is happening wether they like it or not. they don't have to be involved unless they want to be.

 

Art is supposed to unite people, not divide! Anyways, I very much enjoy lookiing over the sigs threads and seeing how those at it for ages work their craft and those just starting develop.

I shall keep my input to purely viewing!!!

Entering other peoples work will get you disqualified, so if you don't compete your work will not be entered .

Also: I do get your point, offcourse it's about fun and learning, but so is soccer or baseball. There's nothing wrong with competing against another team once in a while. I think the competition adds something to the fun.
Maybe a sig from someone who makes his first sig gets the most votes and he/she beats the known sigmakers. That's a nice confidence boost and an encouragement to keep going. Just like the underdog beating the number 1 on the ranking in a sport.

I am not baiting you sid. (WE) meaning everyone else who made sigs before you and bio, decided a long time ago, that we would NEVER have sig contests. Its not a option for you anymore.

You already have 3 of the top sigmakers saying that they wont take part.
