photos.cx is dead

I was wondering why my sig was down and went to the site and this came up.

Qzoka will not let me load images

Whats the best solution? I want to be able to post a larger file like we use in the encyclopedia thread, not just have thumnails...

 

The encyclopedia is screwed up...many photos went donw...

 

what I hate about imagesocket is the fact they put in black letters how big the file right on the bottom of the sig.

hotlinking kills so many sites. The Gif sigs someone uses can cost to the host 100's of dollars. plus in the model forum usually theres 2-4 hotlinked images in one topic. if used in every topic + sigs it will go to 1000's of dollars a month.
So it aint cheap to hotlink sigs/pics and then get shouted that the site sucks cause it deleted my sig.

 

I just used rehostit.com and really liked they way they handle the files.

It actually gives you the options of full size and/or thumbs. I could actually use one hosting site for all of my postings.

I would like someone with more experience to take a look and see if I am missing anything but they really looked good to me.

Hayaddict, I just updated two of mine in the encyclopedia thread. I hope others will update theirs also...

I just used rehostit too, was very easy. We'll see on the bandwidth issues, time will tell.

 

It's a real shame that these brilliant little host sites go under.

I am going to try what ant does and get my own space, maybe an idea for other sig users to think of. It's probably the best way to ensure reliability.

And i never uploaded porn to cx but am still thinking about all the images we've just lost in many threads.

 

no doubt, not only sigs but the spam thread too. Not to mention headers and footers on model posts.

 

Jammsbro, Could you tell me a bit more about having our own space please. Would that be for only when using a sig?

 

Hmmm...Imageavenue is full of copyrighted pics but its still there for years and its still the best.

 

that's a true shame, photos.cx used to be THE hotlink place, too bad it's gone......
