Has rapidshare gone bonkers?

It is crazy but barely downloaded 50 mb today yet
I cannot download anymore for the day as a free user. I get the error message that I have used my daily limited. It is ridiculous an arrogantly offensive.
What do you think?

 

'arrogantly offensive'? it's business. you're not paying for a subscription so you don't really have any right to complain.

 

Free user. No rights to complain. They are giving you something they don't have to.

Sorry but I strongly disagree with your opinions and I believe those that do not have have also the right to access information.
In your terms may be cheap but that's not the rest of the world, just think of others for a second.

I have a premium account with RS. I kept noticing that there is always a large discrepancy between the amount of traffic I actually downloaded and their claim of a daily allowance of 10GB. I could not have downloaded more than a little over 2 GB, and they said I was over the limit. I asked support at RS , and they said because I am using a d.l manager, the traffic generated would be more according to their monitor. But 5 times more? Again today I checked my remaining allowance ,and it said I have 1.5 GB left , ( I could not have d/led 8.5 GB today BTW, I have about 9 GB of free space left to start the day and I still have 6.5 GB left. I do need to clear out my hard disc,) before I started downloading 2 files of 135 mB each, and towards the end of it, my allowed limit ran out. Does anyone else have the same accounting problem with RS? Did the accountants from Fannie Mae and Lehman Bros go over to take up jobs with RS?

 

How can friends share stuff if the other have to pay? Thats not been friends!

 

your account most likely have been compromised by a phisher who trolled for your account and resold it to somebody else. change the password and see if that continues.

 

I have exactly the same problem...I'm using Flashget as my dl manager...I googled this issue and saw that the dl manager is the problem but I don't know exactly what is happening here...the counter on rapidshare is going nuts...it count sometimes 2 times more traffic than the file I've downloaded...
I've changed the pass on my premium account 2 times but the problem remains...

I did change the password but I still have the problem. I also made sure that all the traffics were logged to my IP address . Could a phisher steal the traffics and they still appeared to have been directed to my IP address?

BTW, I am also using Flashget, and RS said it is the problem, but overcounting by 5 times ?

 

i don't use flashget so i honestly can't tell you.

As far as spoofing your ip that would be rather difficult thing to do. Why don't you try not using flashget and see how that goes.

RS suggested using the web browser to download, and then the count will be more accurate. But browser download is so slow that at the end of the day one ends up with the same number of files under the inaccurate count anyway. What other manager do you guys use to download files from RS that might have less problem?

 

i am happy with my 30kbs download per file using a webbrowser.
