Gone for a couple days and I miss all the drama.

I don't know what the full story is, but I've got the jist, and if it causes someone as generous as MM to leave even after all his time here, something is wrong.

From what I can tell MM expressed his personal tastes towards some member here (did he even know they were a member?) in a not so polite manner and everyone jumped on him, including a Mod as he was temporarily banned, apparently. And this could very well be the reason such a great longtime member decided to leave so suddenly.

Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't really see the need to apologize, myself. It may have been insulting/rude to the person on the receiving end, but how many times have people made a... shall we say 'Brash' comment about someone else, especially someone they don't actually know?

If this happened to me, I know I'd feel embarrassed that my comment got back to the person, then greatly insulted and angered that a place that I had been loyal to for years reacted with banning me from it, then allow me to come back, only to be met with people who are trying to extend the whole mess and are calling for an apology I wouldn't exactly feel inclined to give any longer.

It's a mess, but the two parties just need to stick to their respective corners.

MM, if you do feel the need to leave, please know that your services have been greatly appreciated over your time here.

I remember how a year or so ago I asked for a scene from Return of the Living Dead, not really expecting to heeded (you had so many things in the works already), but like a day later you said you would, and something like a week after that you fulfilled my request. That's awesome man.

If you just switch forums or something, drop some of us a line so we can still check out your work?

 

BINGO! We have a winner! Finally someone who get's it. Mochujoe, excellent job of summing things up with well thought out logic and common sense rather than replying out of emotion like so many other members did. In a couple days I plan on finally sharing my side of the story and hopefully clear up all this nonsense once and for all. I'm STILL leaving but I'll let you know what forums to check out the continuation of my work.

 

I try. I'm not easily riled and try to see things from multiple angles/perspectives before lashing out and possibly making things worse. Wish more people did.

It's a shame you'll be leaving here, but I'm glad you'll still be continuing your work. I'll be sure to check out whatever forums you name.

About the phun org models.

The rules are quite clear of personal insults to phun models. Although i am very up for everyone having their own opinion MM didn't just state his opinion, his post was stated to create offence by calling a phun model an "ugly big nosed bitch".

He simply had to say "i do not find her attractive"

Again, did he know she was a member here, let alone a model? And besides, how do you know what his intent was? Somehow I doubt he was sitting at his computer rubbing his hands together and twirling his villainous mustache, wondering 'How can I insult this girl who I don't know today?'.

How many people do you know who would honestly say 'I do not find her attractive'? Granted I may say something to that effect, but the majority of people -in the world- tend to just call someone they don't think is attractive, ugly.

For example, I've lost count of the times I've heard someone, on this very site, call 'Fergie'... well, exactly the same. And having a manjaw, a comment about her eyebrows, ears, etc, without any repercussions heaped upon them (aside from maybe a staunch supporter saying they were stupid). And people unfortunately do that all the time IRL as well, behind people's backs while chatting with their friends.

Now why is that? Why do people fling about words like that when it's obvious if they got back to the person they were about they'd be hurtful? Some of the time with the more callous individual they just don't care, and other times it's the quickest way and most direct way to tell someone they don't care for someone else, and they feel they don't have to... censor(?) their words because they don't know the person, so how could they harm them? Then the comments get back to the person and it can become a mess.

Sort of like it did here.

I've seen no other reason to include MM in the first group.

 

I hold nothing against MM. He has been a member for a long time and should know the rules. All i was saying was that the rules were broken, a minor banning put in place and the deal was done. You overelaborated my intentions with your opening gambit. Please do not refry my posts into your opinions.

I don't think I over-elaborated anything, I was just speaking on the subject as it actually was/is. If you really look into words and subjects, there's a whole lot of depth there people tend to gloss over or don't take into account.

"Refry"? I don't quite get your meaning... Do you mean, don't take it and twist it to my own means? If so, I honestly don't think I did so.

As for the rules, a long time member should know them yes, but it doesn't mean they do. And again, did he know she was a member/model here? That's something that'll have to be answered by MM himself.

going by the rules shouldnt his comment first been deleted, and if there were more comments made then banned. i dont know the whole story, just what i read on this thread but it seemed like a few steps were skipped and went to straight to banning.

 

INTRO

It's always important to remember that there are two sides to every story, however the powers that be in the Phun moderating hierarchy have put me on trial, sentenced and executed me without hearing a single word of defense on my part. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement, but perhaps that's the lesson you learn with having unrealistic expectations.

GENESIS (THE BEGINNING)

Last week I visited the Phun forum and thought I would take a look in the General section to see what's going on. I usually don't visit that section to often because 99% of the time I'm occupied with the task of filling Animated GIF requests. As I looked around the section I came across the thread titled "Phun Hot 100 Official Results" created by Jammsbro. The thread seemed pretty intriguing so I clicked into it and carefully went through the list and although I disagreed with a lot of the selections, I recognized the amount of work, time, and skill put into such a project. For the record Jammsbro did an excellent job and any disagreement on my behalf had nothing to do with the concept (Phun Hot 100), but rather the selections themselves. In reality no Celeb list is ever going to be perfect; it's no different from magazines like FHM, Maxim, etc when they unveil their annual Top 100 lists. Beauty is an acquired taste even if that taste comes from a narrow minded point of view. So out of the element of fun I decided to share my criticisms of the list all under the notion of "Beauty being an acquired taste". My comments were simply stated under the umbrella of fun with no malice intended whatsoever.

THE EUPHORIA COMMENT

As I scrolled through the Phun Hot 100 list I noticed at number 18 some chick called Euphoria. Now I'm thinking to myself who is Euphoria and why is she listed this high in the rankings? What's so special about her? She's beating out the likes of Charlize Theron, Monica Bellucci and Angelina Jolie who are arguably some of the most beautiful women to ever walk the face of the earth. As I put more thought into who this Euphoria chick actually is I'm thinking perhaps she's some obscure European model that I never knew about. If the Phun majority ranked her that high then I figured I must be in the dark about her appeal, although judging from her physical appearance I personally didn't see that appeal as reflected in my "ugly long nose bitch" comment.

THE BAN

After leaving my comments I logged off because I had to go to work. Later that evening after I got home from work I sat down and checked my email and noticed that I had a private message from the Phun forum. I read the message and it was from a person (who I'll keep anonymous) informing me of the following

"You better edit your comments about Euphoria - she is a member on this board and posts pics of herself in the model forum. If, especially one of the mods sees that they will ban you for flamming. Do a search for her posts - especially her 3 k posts. Just trying to help you out."

So I'm saying to myself fair enough I wasn't aware Euphoria was actually a member of the forum, so let me go back to the thread, edit my comments and clear up any misunderstanding. I then proceed to click into Phun and get a message that pops up stating I was banned with no reason specified. I'm then saying to myself what the fuck is this shit? They actually banned me over a comment I made regarding a person I didn't even know? Are you fucking kidding me?


CLARK KENT'S LACK OF LOGICAL THINKING

So at this point it's apparent some moderator decided he wanted to be Clark Kent, jump into a phone booth and save the so-called damsel in distress (in this case Euphoria); the only problem is Clark Kent was in such a hurry to save the day he forgot to utilize the power of logical thinking. Let's take a step back and think about it for a second. I've been a member since 2005 and have no history of attacking Phun members; I have no pattern of that behavior. Combine that with the wealth of contributions I've made to this forum. What member do you know that consistently goes beyond the call of duty to please other Phun members more than I have? Who has come through time and time again in the filling of personal requests of other Phun members? We're not talking about some newbie with 5 posts who crawled out from under a rock, we're talking about someone who has given their heart and soul to this forum. So with that said you figure I would deserve a little benefit of doubt in regard to my Euphoria comment; at least the opportunity to explain myself before any ban would be handed out. Instead I got a bunch of overreacting Clark Kents with their capes flapping in the wind immediately going to the defense of Euphoria and throwing me under the bus in the process. To me that kind of behavior hurt more than the ban itself.

THE PILE ON SESSION

Ok, so the ban is over and I come back and what do I see? One Phun member making a thread about me being banned and other members discussing how I need to apologize and that I deserved to be banned. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don't think I should nor will I apologize for making a comment about a person I didn't even know was a member of the forum and I sure as hell didn't deserve to be banned over it. Now you got Euphoria holding on to some false perception that I don't like her. Euphoria, I don't even know you so logically how could I form an opinion about you one way or the other? Like I said earlier all my comments we're stated under the umbrella of fun with no malice intended. What would I stand to gain by attacking another member, especially someone I didn't even know was a member of the forum?

THE AFTERMATH

The ballgame is different now. I couldn't possibly stay at Phun knowing how quick certain people turn on you and throw you under the bus at the drop of a hat. If they do it once they'll do again and that's an environment I don't wish to be in. To those who supported me and actually applied logical thought to this situation I thank you and hope to see you at the next forum I pop up at. I'll keep the lines of communication open all the way up until the time I fill the final request then I'm outta here. In closing, no hard feelings to all the Phun moderators, Euphoria, Jammsbro, etc I just got to go.

 

Shit happens sometimes. Save the stresses for real life. There is enough there (i spell one of those 'there' wrong? hmmm). Should have they banned? Maybe not. Rules say delete the post. If repeated, then ban, but it's their forums I guess.

Just the interwebz. Deep down, nobody really cares. We go to work and dont think about these things til we log in, and it seems like a bigger deal that it really is. How bout everyone hug and make out?

 

I figured it was something like that MM. It's too bad this mess is causing you to leave, but it's understandable. I'd suggest some new places for you to hang out, but I don't spend much time on forums.

totally agreed. sure he was given a couple days off to think it over. sure he was given hell for doing so, it was that bad a comment.
