today was a pain in the ass. i had to get my tax card at my local department but they told me that i had to visit my hometown to get one. so i had to drive 3 hours (one way) to get the tax card. it's hard to get a job. but it's even harder to make it legal.

 

And `cause we two used it.... The first Europeans to have that CD ! Yeah !

 

yeah, i understand that. i'd never pay anything more than 20€ by paypal because i'm scared of it as well.

 

i use paypal alot. so easy, maybe thats why im broke

 

What ? Is there not one department for that in every big town ?

 

I used to have an account when I would get stuff from eBay. Haven't bought anything in a couple years from them. About the only thing I get now is golf balls and it's from a site that outsources the finances to a http(s) site, you have to have a token to purchase from it so I trust it.

there's one department in every town, but i moved here last december and that's not enough time to be on record... bureaucracy

I can`t explain it right, i think. Here in Sweden never a problem `cause it`s a very small country. When You getting a new job here your firm just notice the department and then it`s done.

the tax card gives information about:
# your address,
# date of birth,
# your finance office
# your tax class,
# your amount of tax exempt amounts
...

 

Here a unique social security number is assigned to everyone, it's kind of like your citizenship id. You have to give it to your employer and they use that id to pay the gov't your share of taxes. If you lose it you have to apply for another one, it's the same number but it takes a while to get it back. They have to make sure you are really that person.

 

yep, pretty much the same thing. Only ours is just a number, you have to look up the information once someone gives you their number.
