Sydney's so hot. Such a prime opportunity missed

 

I still believe there is footage they cut, fingers crossed it comes out at some point.

 

absolutely pathetic an R rated date movie that looks like a PG13 date movie.

 

the movie has surpassed expectations at the box office. the studio might well find it worth their while to release a "UNRATED, SUPER SEXY, TOO HOT FOR THEATERS" cut on BluRay.

 

I feel fairly certain that there will be an unrated version for home viewing. Remember that in the theaters, this is marketed for women. So they need to make a version that women are going to drag their men to. They played up that there will be a lot of Glen Powell skin to appeal to women, and made sure that everyone know Syd was going to be in a bikini so that men would agree to go. Non-date "friends" attendance was almost exclusively women. So the promise of "Sydney Sweeney naked" would likely hurt their target audience.

On home video, however, having the more explicit scenes opens up a whole new market. "Sydney Sweeney naked" will drive a significant home video audience. So I suspect that this was always the plan -- release a tamer version in theaters to get women to go, and then release a more explicit home video version.

But I guess we'll see soon enough.

 

I like nudity as much as the next person on here but i can't help but laugh at those who feel offended when a movie or TV show doesn't feature stuff for us to beat off too. This film wasn't made for guys to beat off too its just a fun aimed at women date movie, Sydney's hot yes and is ok with nudity but doesn't mean every single movie she makes will see her go naked.

 

The annoying part was the claims in the lead up about the amount of nudity we'd see from Sydney. This was the take from a redditor who claimed to have seen an early screening:

Either he was full of shit (likely) or the nudity was dropped when they rushed back to Sydney (OZ) to do reshoots straight after the strike ended.

If it's the second, then there still is a chance of a later home release with nudity. If it's the first, that guy's a total dick!

Yeah but that doesn't mean its a wankfest for us. Its a film aimed primary at women or couples looking for a fun date film. I don't think the studio was like better have Sydney go naked so men on Phun can beat off. Obviously it would have been great if she did as she's hot as hell but the fact people are getting pissy on here that she's not is just rather to be blunt sad, if this was an erotic film or something i would get the annoyance but its a romcom aimed mostly at women like come on did you really expect heavy nudity from anyone who isn't the male lead?

 

'Adult' romcom implies more sexual content than you would expect in your typical non-adult romcom. Jubas was absolutely spot on when he said there's nothing here that couldn't have been in a PG-13 movie

If it was 'aimed' at women, you wouldn't get Sydney Sweeney to star in it.

There's a reason most romcoms aimed at women get actresses like Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock to star in them. Because those women, while not unattractive, are non-threatening. There's a reason actresses like Nicole Kidman don't do a lot of romcoms, because guys are hot for her and therefore the typically female romcom viewing audience feel threatened by her, even though it's a fucking movie and their boyfriends that they drag along to see these films have a less than 0% chance of actually getting with Nicole Kidman

Same goes for Sydney Sweeney. You want evidence? Look at various comment sections and the cornucopia of bitchy comments levelled at her, typically along the lines of 'She only has a career because of her tits', 'She can't act so she strips', etc.

Bottom line, they cast Sydney to appeal to us, not other women. Sydney, with her incredible tits, ass and DSLs is like Kryptonite to the female romcom viewing populace

 

They cast Sydney because she's a fairly decent actress whose pretty in demand right now in Hollywood. The film cast two very good leading leads because people are shallow and like watching pretty people in films like this. Also plenty of "hot" actresses get cast in romcoms aimed at women i mean just look at Jennifer Aniston and you did live in the 90's right? Julia Roberts was a big 90's sex symbol who men heavily lusted after, hell the big plot point in her guest spot in Friends was her character was meant to be ugly as a child who Chandler bullied for her looks only for him to lust after her now that she's grown into looking like Julia Roberts.

 

Next best opinion from a random guy: I don't get the surprise and hubbub regarding the not-so-revealing parts. It was pretty obvious... a reddit post about an early preview that still gets quoted/paraphrased. Well-executed buzz-y trick in the promo world, I would say.

 

you do know this forum is largely based on nudity and is a bunch of men wanting to see nudity to "beat off" and have a "wankfest"... if you don't like that feel free to leave...

i am sure there are many forums where man like yourself can just discuss the very technical aspect of movie making and acting skills, that might suit you better than here

 

in fairness, Sydney and her fiance owned the rights to this move via the production company they started... it is/was her movie therefore she cast herself in it to play the lead role

so while I agree with you in a general sense here, this case is the aberration to that general line of thinking because it's not like they went out and chose her over others... she chose herself if that makes sense

 

The infamously never nude Jen Aniston is the perfect example of what I'm talking about. Not unattractive but not dripping with sexuality like, say, a Sharon Stone, and therefore nonthreatening to female moviegoing audiences

 

Do everyone a favour and lock this until the HD version drops.

Aniston did a topless scene in Wanderlust that was cut from the final release and I'm still pissed off about that
